Impact of Neighborhood On Our Lives

There's no doubt that having a good neighbor is one blessing God has bestowed upon mankind. Do you know why? That’s because you can’t choose the kind of person you want as your neighbor. You always have them. The moment when you can still make a change is when you are in a rented apartment; then you can either choose to pack away or have them pack away.

However, when it comes to landlords, it's a different story to say you want to change who your neighbors are. They already owned their house and even their land. So it's either you relate with them or you do not.

I remembered when I was in school, my first year was really bad because of the neighborhood I was in. I had to stay with my brother, and everyone around us in the hostel was just weird in some ways. There are some that will battle against each other with the loudest bass speakers, and some are just there to make the hell noise till midnight. They will argue in the corridor, and you, inside your room, will be affected.

I had no choice but to relate to them to some extent and leave the place. In my second year, I thought I would get somewhere better. I tried my best. The apartment was okay, and we had good neighbors, but there were some vacant rooms left. We thought the landlord would be the one to use the apartment, but not until we saw some ladies pack in.

They became our nightmare; they are so dirty and untidy, have no manners, and they even prefer to walk naked, and because of that, we still had to vacate that environment again. Till I got the very last apartment, where I stayed with good and friendly neighbors. They made my stay worth it till I finished schooling.

The impact of neighbors on us.

I stayed with my uncle for some time, and there I got to know how important it was to relate well with neighbors. You never can tell what will happen, and before your friends or family come from a long distance, they are the closest to you.

My uncle had left for work, and his wife and everyone at home had already left the house for Friday prayers. I guess there was a bridge in the electricity, and the spark had already turned into a heavy fire.

The house was already on fire, and it was our neighbor's daughter who saw it through the window. She called the attention of her parents, and they quickly called for rescue. They tried to put out the fire before our arrival. The door was broken before the fire could be quenched. It was after that they called us to break the news.

Had it been my uncle who had a clash with the neighbors at that time, they might not even have had the confidence to break down the door and quench it.

Presently, living with my parents, I can say we have a good neighbor, though we don’t have this close relationship, but there are no issues between us, we are free to converse with each other, and there have been some benefits we have for each other.

A neighborhood is really important, and it's always advisable to pray for good neighbors.
