I have always questioned myself at times about why and how I found myself in this country, Nigeria. I am grateful to be a citizen of the country and also to have come from a good home. But there are times when you wish to be born in a different place entirely, and that's just the nature of humans and insatiability.
You will see many citizens of a country showing so much dislike for their country and anticipating living a life in other countries. In the end, they will always wish they were back to their country in one way or another because there is surely no place like home.
Nigeria is a country where we are so blessed to the extent that we can’t produce a toothpick, if there is a chance for us to import our country itself I am sure Nigerians will do that. I don't know why we are finding it hard to work on ourselves and build our country.
The citizens would blame the government, and the governments would mock the citizens. The game we keep playing. No one is ready to take responsibility for their actions or ready to embrace changes.
My friend who lives in Lagos has been ranting a lot about his status recently. He will always complain about the noise and disturbance from his neighbors and the buildings around him. Despite the fact that Lagos state has one of the best sources of electricity in the country, there are times when some of its people will put on generators.
If Lagos could be that way, then what are we to say about other states that struggle with good electricity? We are always dependent on other sources which are the cheapest. The type of generator you get now depends on your capacity.
The higher the power emissions of your generator, the more noise it gives. Two neighbors can put on a generator and one of them will still keep complaining about the noise from the other.
If you want to know what noise pollution from a generator looks like, just enter a street where they don't have electricity at night but they all have their generators on. You will hardly hear someone call your name from behind you or even hear a car horn behind you.
To see the difference, stay in that street and let the power holding company restore electricity that same night. Then you see every household put off their generators. That's the moment you will understand the definition of peace of mind.
Generators are blessed with two impressive gifts of pollution, they are blessed with noise pollution, and there are times when you also enjoy air pollution. Some of these generators are due for servicing and some repairs, but the nature of the country we find ourselves in, they won't even think of repairing it not to talk of service.
When they use such generators they give out some exhaust that is not good for human health. Imagine all households in a community putting on generators every day. I have heard that a whole family met their demise because of the exhaust of a generator centered inside their apartment while they were all asleep.
In conclusion, there are other means of pollution too. And this is something we can tackle by ourselves and not always the government. If the government doesn’t play its part in providing a good and reliable source of electricity, then let us do well to maintain our generators.
The maintenance will bring about two advantages, it will reduce the noise and exhaust pollution, and it will also give it a longer time of use.
This is my response to the HIVE LEARNERS weekly prompt in the hive-learners community for the Week 157 Edition 2 and the topic to be discussed is CAUSE OF POLLUTION
Umm yeah we also have this type of generator, and make too noise. we also need to change them
You really have too. To reduce noise pollution
Sending you Ecency curation votes
Thank you
No state can be compared to Lagos when it comes to noise pollution, that city is made of noise. I once lived in an area in Lagos called opebi, majority of houses in this area are on standby generator for almost 24hrs a day, it is as if they don't spend money on petrol and diesel. We can't really blame most people, if our electricity is good enough, issues like this would be minimal.
