On The Grind - PhotoFeed Contest: Black & White Photography Round 148

(edited)

Compliments of the season folks. Hope you're having an enjoyable weekend and getting ready for the holidays. I'm looking forward to an enjoyable one. I hope you will too.

In recent times, there's been a lot of construction and reconstruction work going on around my city, Aba. One of such is the rebuilding of the gutters alongside the roads spanning from Park road, Aba/Owerri Express road down to Abayi.

The old gutters weren't holding up much again – they'd overflow during rains, flooding roads and clogging up. So this rebuild was necessary to ensure better water flow, less flooding and clearer gutters. Great initiative.

So on one of my walks along the ever busy Park road, I spotted one of the construction workers, a young man totally absorbed in his task. With a drilling machine in hand - I guess that's what it is, he was breaking up the old gutter, carefully clearing the way for something new.

His work required dedication and concentration to avoid mistakes, and he was doing just that.

Well, I didn't want to waka pass without capturing the moment. Lol. Such sights aren't what you see everyday. So I reached for my phone nestled inside my bag and took few shots of him.

Before doing so, I thought of the hue that'll best capture the essence of the scene, and voila, it was monochrome that came to mind. And that was it. Mind you, I was being careful not to attract unusual attention to myself. Hehehe.

And here's the photos that came out nice. What do you think about the photos?
