Hello. Welcome to my blog.
This post is for the PhotoFeed Contest Macro Photography 175, and it'll feature stunning photos from my churchyard garden. Yeah, I told you to expect more photos from there. Lol.
This time, I spotted some green buds of an Ixora coccinea also called Flame of the woods or West Indian jasmine, right in the Marian Shrine.
Just so you know, Ixora plant is a tropical flowering shrub from the Rubiaceae family, often used for hedging and gardening. Ixora comes in red, orange, pink, yellow and white colors. This is one here is the yellow color.
Tight cluster of Ixora flower buds. Still closed, packed in a dome between glossy leaves. Beautiful. Aren't they?

Another shot, this one has the buds stretched out on long tubes. In a few days now, the whole burst into small 4-petal flowers.

The spiky, starburst look you see here is exactly how Ixora appears like right before blooming.
Just like life is in stages, Ixora plant also goes through stages, processes before it finally blooms,
I zoomed in on the buds to be able to get these shots. I think they turned out great. 👍
And there you have them. Have you seen Ixora buds before? I'd love to know.
