Sin is the problem of every person today. Humanity has a fallen nature because of Adam’s sin, and it continues to affect all people. Even though God forgave Adam, the result of his sin was passed on to his descendants. In a way, it continues, as stated in Romans 5:12.
Sin affects the heart. For example, anger comes from the heart, and pride comes from being self-centered. It also affects a person’s thinking and understanding.
But there is a solution: repentance. This means turning away from sin, changing one’s mind and heart, and putting Christ at the center of life. However, a person still has the choice. If someone does something wrong but blames others or betrays a companion, that is still sin.
For me, what I learned most is the importance of turning away from sin, just like Paul. Before, he persecuted and killed Christians, but when he encountered Jesus, he changed and was transformed by the Holy Spirit.
I can relate this to myself. Before, I didn’t really care about church. I would attend just to enjoy the air-conditioning, to see people, or simply because I felt like going. I didn’t pay attention to the pastor’s teaching. But now, God has given me another chance to show unbelievers how He has changed me and to become an inspiration to them.
