Being born on the first day of April seems to be one of the worst things that happened to George. His birthday always had a spoiler, thanks to his wife. It's been 10 years of marriage and every prank Meridith comes up with on the first day of April always hits differently but somehow, George's anger only lasts for just a few minutes. He had always let it slide but it was a different story on his 36th birthday.
George got out of bed quite early on his birthday since he had the intention of making breakfast for the family. He turned to wish Meridith a happy new month but she wasn't on the bed and George wondered why because the alarm hadn't ring yet.
"What's she up to today?" George muttered after checking the bathroom.
George was barely out of the room when he perceived a sweet aroma from the kitchen.
"Hmmmm! It looks like this birthday would be different," George muttered and tiptoed to the kitchen.
He grabbed Meridith from behind and she was shocked.
"You are up early honey," Meridith said to George.
"Likewise you baby," George replied and the two stared at each other passionately for a few seconds.
"Happy birthday honey," Meridith broke the silence and kissed George.
"Thanks, sweetheart, Happy New Month to you as well" George replied and moved around the kitchen.
"What should I help you with?" George asked.
"I got everything dear. Just enjoy your day to the fullest," Meridith replied.
"Hmmm! I will just brew my coffee,"
"I got that, I was serious when I said you should relax" Meridith replied.
George kissed her before leaving the kitchen and it wasn't long before Meridith came with a cup of coffee.
"It's yours, baby," she said romantically.
"Thanks honey," George replied and wondered what the day prank would be or probably there wouldn't be any.
He readjusted on the sofa and picked up the cup to sip from it.
"Argh! What in the world is this?" George screamed and stormed the kitchen immediately.
Meridith expected the reaction and was laughing when he entered the kitchen.
"Is this a joke or what?" George asked but it took Meridith some seconds to stop laughing.
"April Fool! I got you again. Don't be mad at me, it's just hot-dog water" she said jokingly.
"What the hell do you mean? Of everything in the world, you messed up my coffee. This is the height of it Meridith, I have endured this for a decade and this would be the last," George replied and stormed out of the kitchen again.
He went to freshen up and left the house immediately.
"I shouldn't have messed with his coffee, I was so stupid" she stuttered as he drove out of the compound.
She kept calling his phone immediately she returned inside the house but he didn't pick up. George drove to a coffee shop outside the city, it was a long drive which helped him cool off a bit.
The shop hadn't opened so he just waited and got in when the workers resumed. George was there till noon and eventually picked up Meridith's call after she texted that the kids wanted to speak to him.
He spoke to the kids and promised them that he would be home before evening for his birthday celebration. Immediately Meridith knew he was coming, so she invited a few friends and family who lived nearby for a surprise party. It was an impromptu surprise party and there wasn't much to it.
"This should make him feel better," Meridith said to herself immediately after the preparation.
She was restless and their guest could see it. Meridith checked everything again and went to freshen up after.
George returned with a cake and a big brown envelope.
Surprise! Everyone in the sitting room chroused immediately George stepped inside and he was surprised. Meridith stepped out to hug him and they pretended to be cool.
"Happy birthday sweetheart, I am sorry about what happened earlier" she whispered into his ear.
George smiled and handed over what he was carrying to her.
"The folder is yours," he said sharply.
The couple joined the others and the celebration started. George was happy to see everyone and his kids were more excited to have people at their place.
Meridith went to the room to check what was in the folder and was shocked to see a divorce letter.
Her hands began shaking and she burst into tears.
"This can't be real, it must be a prank as well" she stuttered.
She rushed through the paper and saw that it was from the Ministry of Interior, the same place where they had their court wedding. Her heart skipped and she dragged herself back to the sitting room.
Everyone was having fun and she didn't want to ruin the birthday party but immediately everyone left, Meridith asked what George was thinking to have brought a divorce paper.
"Please just sign it," George replied and refused to say anything to her after.
Every effort to make him speak was futile, She became emotional and wept uncontrollably. George couldn't stand it, he hate to see her hurt and comforted her.
"It's fake, I got it from Maleek's office. I just wanted to let you know how I feel about your pranks, you cherish this marriage a lot and it was my only shot at scaring you" George said while patting her.
"You could have told me you didn't like the pranks, you always smiled and I thought you loved them," Meridith replied.
"I should have told you truly but... I am sorry," George stuttered.
George apologized for going too far with his prank but Meridith didn't recover quickly from the prank. She wrapped herself in George's arms all through the night sobbing and the couple vowed never to prank each other again.
Despite everything, the celebration turned out to be George's best birthday party.
Revenge prank is ok but still I feel divorce prank is not a good thing. Your revenge prank was 10X powerful prank than her. Such kind of prank can be dangerous.
Yeah, very dangerous. George must have compiled all the feelings to get that to her. He didn't mean it as well, thanks for the response bro.
Cheers.
Poor George, what a bad way to start his birthday 🤭🙈 It was a very intense April Fool's Day 🤣🤣
Yeah, it was indeed bad. The couple felt the heat of the April fool day, they won't try such with each other again.
Now that was payback on another level.
I play pranks but I know that I can take my own medicine.
It was in bad taste to play pranks on his birthday anyhow, but somehow I think that would be Meridith's last prank ever.
Nice one 👏
It would definitely be her last time pranking George. His prank was very far from hers but she tasted a pinch of what George feels whenever she pranks him.
The birthday would be one to always remember, thanks for the response.
