Memories: My First Social Media Account

I love how the prompts of this community make us take a moment to go down memory lane and each time I do this I am always nostalgic. Relishing on the memories and smiling like I won the lottery, oh yes I did! Being born when I was, was such a perfect time.

If there’s one thing I have learnt from reminiscing about the good old days that would be the simplicity of life back then and how far the world has come, like they say “it gets better every day”. The world is a proof of this statement.

When you think or feel that you’ve seen it all and that’s the end of it all, life throws something more exciting and stress-free for you to relish.

I remember when I created my first social media account. It feels just like yesterday since I made that move, as joining social media back then was something I yearned for so when the opportunity came I was game.

The first social media account I created was 2go and I remember how I hated all the processes involved in the creation of the account.
One crazy fact about me is that I hate signing up for anything, it can be pretty tiring trying to get through all those security questions and password creation thingy that you are required to do before you get signed up. Can’t I just click sign up and I am in? Lol pardon me, that’s the lazy part of me talking😃

Now back to that faithful day.
I got my little mobile phone loaded with enough data courtesy of all the money I was able to get from my dad and aunties, I charged my phone and took a very comfortable position as I was about to join the legendary 2go social media.

I downloaded the App, and after downloading the App I followed all the instructions, and Voila! I had my very own 2go username which was cool by the way Hehehehe.

Before joining 2go all my classmates and friends had already joined 2go as they all had phones except me and I felt left out whenever they spoke about 2go, or the games they played on their phones, like the typical teenager that I was, I needed my own mobile phone to join 2go and play games as well and so when the day came I was so excited.

Creating the account was one thing but understanding the language was another thing. Shorthand was rampant back then, the more shorthand you used or understood the cooler you looked.

It took a while for me to understand the ropes over there as 2go was a whole new experience for me. Before I joined I was only used to calling my family and friends and texting when necessary but on 2go I had to chat with people from different parts of my state while appearing cool and mature at the same time, Lol such a crazy phase of my life.

The more time I spent on 2go the more addictive it became and the more trouble I got into with my family but I still loved the App and it took a while before I was able to give up on it and move to others.

It’s funny how all of these memories turn out to be golden later in life.
