THE FORGOTTEN GUIDE

Now that I think about it, it’s been a while I bought any device or appliances that has a manual with it. I normally buy phone charges and light bulbs but they usually don’t come with manuals. Oh! I just remembered I bought something recently that has the instructions written on the box that it came with, I guess that counts as a manual because it came in really handy, hehe.

Okay, I think someone might be wondering why I’m talking about manuals. So I’m talking about manuals because the digital lifestyle community asked us to. And you are also invited to tell us about your manual experiences too! Now that I have finally been able to carry everyone along, let’s dive into the discussion proper, shall we?

Manuals as we all know, is a pile of information or a piece of information or guidelines about a product we have purchased that guides us on the step to step process of using a particular product. Now, one unique thing about manuals is the fact that a lot of persons don’t even think about it until they are stuck somewhere and the manual will always help them. We always like treating one product with the knowledge of the other one we had before and sometimes, that’s not the best because it’s very likely that the other product you had you didn’t even follow the manual that it came with.

Particularly, here in Nigeria, it’s almost weird seeing someone following a manual to operate his or her device or appliances. Sometimes people will even tell you they will help you do it just to make you stop making use of the manufacturer’s guidelines. But interestingly, there is always this part of us that doesn’t allow us discard that manual because we know we might have need of it at some point. Manuals are there to guide us to make proper use of our appliances and devices without having to spend more money calling an engineer or someone to help us do it. If only we can just follow the manual, we won’t have so much problems with a lot of things.

There was one time my sister bought a baby rocker for her child and looking at how the whole thing was arranged in the box, she totally gave up on the thought of even coupling everything together. The next thing I did was pick up the manual and started working on putting the rocker together. It took me a while but at the end, I was able to set up the baby rocker just by following the instructions on the manual. At that point, I was reminded of how useful manuals can be. Most times, when we have a problem with our appliances, the first person we run to is an engineer when the way to solve that problem might be in the manual.

But for the recent device I bought that I made use of a manual, it was a bit easier because the instructions were straightforward. I recently bought an headset and it has some unique things from the normal headsets I have used before. I quickly ran to the instructions written on the box to guide me on how to make use of it. The headset has the buttons on the side of the headset and they are very sensitive to little touches and it’s also foldable one but I was scared the first time I tried to fold it and it sounded like I had already broken something, lol. But that is just how it sounds when opening or folding it.

Also, thanks to the manual, I also learnt that it shouldn’t charge for maximum of 2 hours and ever since I started using it, it charges for just roughly an hour. And it lasts for at least 5 hours. So far, using the headset has been nice because thanks to the guide on the box, I understand how to use it better.

I sometimes forget about using manuals like a lot of persons but I don’t ever throw away the manual. I keep it safe until the day I remember that I need it, lol. And I’ll encourage us to always make good use of manual and save ourselves the time and money of asking someone to do some things for us. Having a manual attached to an appliance or device is like a free ticket to the movies, hehe.
