𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑶𝒓 𝑻𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝑰𝒔 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆?

I saw a post that said "you're allowed to call a person who wouldn't take your call and make it out alive, who would you call?" I smiled widely because that would be my sister. She hardly takes her call and even hardly calls, but she's very good at text messages.

My mom on the other hand prefer calls to text messages. "Verily verily I say unto you, my mom might never stumble on any text message you send her until thy kingdom comes." However, as soon as you call her, she would pick immediately without batting an eyelid.

I think different strokes for different folks, because I on the other hand prefer calls to text(sms) except you're texting via my social media account and that would only be on WhatsApp where I'm a bit active because of the kind of job I do.

Based on the place I am and the person I plan on reaching out to. I know exactly the means to get them during an emergency.

One thing I've noticed is the power of social media. Let me tell you a quick story.

I recall sometime in 2021. I saw a baby dummy online displayed for sale and I needed to get one, since I make outfit for kids too.

I was so scared because it required I go physically to the lady's house to get it, because it was a distress sale. The insecurity in my country made matter even worse that I was very skeptical of my safety.

I tried to inform a couple of friends about my move, gave them the name, address and phone number of the lady I planned on visiting via sms before heading out.

It took them ages to reply, so I posted it on my WhatsApp status, that anyone who cared about me should please be at alert and reach me when they notice I'm inactive.i dropped the lady's number, address and name on my status simply because I have a very small circle of trusted friends and family on WhatsApp so it a very safe thing to do.

Guess what happened? Everyone started calling my line from time to time to ensure I was safe and hearty. Another of friend mine who lived around the lady's neighbourhood even came around ensuring I was very safe and that made me feel very loved. The lady who sold the baby dummy was very surprised at how people called my line. In her words "you think say I be kidnapper?" Well, one can never be too sure as many disguise under the name of sales personnel to do all sort of atrocities.

I think in this era and time, the quickest way to reach a person is via social media handles. Either WhatsApp calls or a little message on their handles. Everyone is on their phone or laptop doing one or two things online, so it might easily get to them than a regular sms.

Some people have two phones, which is why they hardly respond to the sim disconnected from the internet. If you call those ones, it might take you ages to reach them. So next time when adding a contact, ask for their WhatsApp number, that's their hotline. And it might save you a lot of hassles of reaching them.
