My grandad was a tailor, and I remember how I liked hanging around and helping (probably not... lol...) when I was a kid... It was amazing to watch the creative process of creating something unique, by using a simple fabric...
I also remember the hard days when we lived in poverty, when he would make a fantastic jacket for my sister from the leftover fabric from his customers... Your post reminded me about those times... You created a fantastic, memorable girl's dress, and I can imagine how happy those who will wear it will be!

What I think is most important is that children get to know the artists and also the people who have helped ensure that these works are not forgotten; as well as it being a wonderful way to pay tribute to them, I believe this is the best way to do so. Introducing them to a variety of techniques stimulates their creativity and gives them a choice. I always tell you, I see a lot of talent in many of the children and, quite honestly, I also hope they’ll choose to draw and paint in their spare time rather than spend it with a phone in their hands.

Alicia, it’s so good to hear from you. I know you’re in Caracas, so you must have experienced the moment just as we did at home. Beyond the fact that we’re safe, what remains is this collective grief—felt in the streets, in the atmosphere, and seemingly even in the sky itself; it looks more beautiful every day, yet for so many reasons, it fills me with nostalgia. I admire you for making it all the way to La Guaira; I haven’t had the chance to go—I’ve only helped load boxes onto the trucks heading there—but I imagine seeing that part of the country in person right now must be a deeply moving, even shattering, experience... We will pull through, as always, but this wound will remain in our souls forever.
