Beautifying To Celebrate Indonesian Independence Day

It was 11 pm, and I was feeling hungry, so I headed to a small retailer that was still open. As I walked, I suddenly remembered that today was August, and more specifically, it was almost Indonesia's Independence Day. August 17th holds a special place in the hearts of all Indonesians, commemorating the proclamation of independence in 1945 after a long and arduous battle against the Netherlands army and the British-led Allied forces.

As I continued my walk, I noticed the vibrant preparations taking place in my community. We were busy decorating our neighborhood with festive gates made of bamboo, adorned with twinkling lights that added a magical touch to the night. The atmosphere was electric, and the streets were alive with excitement.

It was late night for kids to play out but in the evening they were overjoyed with the coming celebration. Then I walked to the retailer.

As I reached the retailer, I was greeted by the friendly owner, who was happy to see me despite the late hour. I picked up some snacks to satisfy my hunger, and we chatted about the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. The sense of community and camaraderie was strong, and I felt grateful to be a part of it.
