The Importance of Returning and "Checking in" With Your Crypto Investments

Although it has already been said to death, I want to start by reiterating that the Cryptosphere is still a new and wild frontier! So you never really know what's going to happen... and most of the rules of play continue to be pretty "bendy."

I suppose I am pointing this out because you can't always apply the legacy rules of investing either... not least because things in crypto tend to move so fast that you might miss important developments if you so much as blink or look the other way for a second.

I guess the part of it I don't like — perhaps because I grew up with legacy investing, which often moved at a glacial pace — is that it creates a situation in which you end up spending a lot of time and energy on simply "keeping up with your investments."

Of course, I am a very small investor in this show... but I am also very aware of the fact that I can't just "invest and leave it" and expect things to stay consistent over time... OR for originators of financial initiatives to actually follow through on what they originally claimed they were going to.

I recently completed my end-of-year checkthrough and — even here, within Hive's borders — it was surprising (and a little alarming) just how much had more of less... disappeared.

I suppose quite a few people are aware of the collapse of the BRO initiative last year, when its principal basically went off the rails... bunch of alleged value, suddenly erased. Gone. For the longest time, it seemed like something legit.

Last year also saw the end of the Hive-Engine INDEX token which was a fairly widely destributed "investment token" for several years.

Similarly, the INCOME token on Hive-Engine shuttered.

Anyway, these endings does make me wonder whether any of the small holdings I still have are likely to suddenly vanish, as well.

To that end, I went in search of updates and information!

I have some DAB tokens from the @dailydab program. They still pay some dividends, although it's definitely not daily anymore. There has also not been a significant update post since June 5th of 2025, but check the next item below, for more on that. Regardless, it doesn't exactly give a cat a lot of confidence! But as long as the "dabs" keep periodically flowing, I guess I'll stick with it.

That said, I checked the @spinvest account, and there was a recent update there (I'd actually forgotten that there's a loose affiliation between @dailydab and @spinvest) — relating to my EDSI and LBI tokens, so that's at least something, even if the news there was a little on the cautious and pessimistic side.

My small stack of LBI tokens have steadily been paying a dribble of LEO tokens as dividends for a long time... and that's certainly better than nothing!

In a broader sense, the whole @spinvest group is at least still going, even if the going is not that great.

In general, it seems like "investment initiatives" are not very popular — or well-received — on Hive.

The only other "investment" exposure I have here on Hive is a bit of @leostrategy's SURGE token, which is a bit like a yiled-bearing convertible bond.

While it's still pretty new, it seems to be fairly consistently paying out some small drips of HBD, which I then add to my HBD savings.

The only other thing worth mentioning is actually what I might cal an "upside surprises," in the form of my modest stake of @aliveandthriving's ALIVE has started paying out a daily HIVE "drip" dividend. Pretty cool!

Of course, these are all very tiny amounts in the greater scheme of things. I keep adding a few things here and there, but it will be years before it amounts to more than pocket change!

But at least I am having fun with my dabbling...
