Somehow, I don't ever remember the Major League Baseball playoffs being such a flurry of activity. Things have been going fast and furious since the Wild Card games finished up before the weekend. Now we are into the first round of the ALDS and NLDS playoffs and it has definitely been a bit crazy. In case you aren't familiar with the terms:

ALDS - American League Division Series
NLDS - National League Division Series

It was a bit tough to split my attention on Saturday between college football and the baseball playoffs, but once again thanks to YouTube TV and their multiview options I was able to multitask like a boss. In fact, they have really made it quite easy to select your own four events to watch. The only time this doesn't work is if a particular network doesn't participate in the multiview feature.

So Saturday we had four games. Milwaukee beat the Cubs 9 to 3 to take the first game of their best of three series. Toronto hammered the Yankees 10 to 1 to take their game 1, The Dodgers beat the Phillies 5 to 3, and The Tigers bested the Mariners out in Seattle 3 to 2.

Sunday was a little easier because I only really cared about the Lions game and there were only two MLB games on anyway. Toronto once again destroyed The Yankees 13 to 7, and Detroit fell to Seattle 3 to 2. That means Toronto just needed to win one more game to clinch their series and Detroit was all tied up with Seattle at one game a piece.

On Monday Los Angeles extended their lead to two games over Philadelphia with a 4 to 3 victory, and Milwaukee did the same over the Cubs with a 7 to 3 win.

Finally, last night, Detroit fell at home to Seattle 8 to 4 in a game that was delayed a couple hours due to rain. That series now has Seattle leading 2 to 1 and the Detroit Tigers on the brink of elimination. After their late season collapse, it is a bit of a miracle they have made it this far, but I really hope this isn't the end of their journey already.

Meanwhile, The Yankees showed they still have a bit of life left in them with a 9 to 6 beating in the Bronx against Toronto. That moves that series to 2 to 1 in favor of Toronto.

Today we have some more games as well. Detroit gets the chance to stay alive against Seattle, Milwaukee and LA get the chance to put away the Cubs and the Phillies respectively, and New York gets to see if they are out or still breathing against Toronto.

I've watched a few of the games between the Yankees and Toronto and I have to say, despite the game last night, The Blue Jays are looking dang good at the right time. If the Tigers end up getting eliminated, I might have to support my brothers to the North/East and become a Blue Jays fan. I did visit the Skydome once after all...
