A great afternoon in the garden

You will reap what you plant. Plant more and harvest more.

Once again, we were able to visit our garden in the home lot yesterday afternoon. My husband got home from work about 3:15 in the afternoon, we had some merienda and then we proceed to the garden. It was about 10 to 15 minutes travel and we reached there at 3:50 in the afternoon.

The sun is still up so we still have time to do some thing for our garden.

The main reason why we really gave time to visit here because we planned to harvest this banana. It is still young during our visit in the garden last April 7 holiday so we expect it has already matured after a month and we were right.

My husband gladly harvest it and for some days from now we could eat ripe bananas from it.

Aside from that he also harvested another two bananas who has different variety from the first one. This one, the banana went to another lot outside of the fence but glad we were able to get it.

Here is another one, I never had the chance to get pictures because I already started my own task.

We wonder why it has one banana which is already ripe. It is not usual in banana because they usually become ripe by batch.

As we checked it, we noticed this dark spots in it's part. It means that the banana have some defects.

As we checked the ripe one, how sad! It has defects and not suitable for eating. My husband still decided to bring it home because not all fruits are like that. Some is still good.

Do you have any idea how to treat bananas like that? Because probably other bananas in their group will be like that.

My husband also remove or get those banana blossom ready for removal.

Here's one which can be cooked like banana blossom patties. We didn't cook all banana blossoms, it will depend on the variety of the banana.

He then planted some fruit trees we brought from home. They just grow from the seeds we throw after eating.

They were rambutan and marang.

He also planted these bananas (another variety to have in our garden).

We also harvested some cassava to be cooked as bodbod (don't forget to follow to know how to cook about this, I will write about it in a different blog).

We felt a little sad because it has small crops and yield a little harvest but still thankful because at least we have something to harvest from our garden. Our efforts in planting and cleaning it had yield some harvest.

We didn't harvest them all. Someday if we could go back, we can harvest some cassava too.

My husband also planted another batch of cassava. He planted it in a space where we harvested cassava too.

We also felt happy seeing our moringa (malunggay) bears some leaves and it means they already alive and growing. Soon the moringa trees will serve as post in our fence because the bamboo post starts to decay.

Our previously planted banana also grown and has some additional leaves. Go! Bananas grow more and bear some good fruits soon.

While my husband is busy, me too clean our cassava. I uprooted the weeds or grass and cultivate the soil near the plants.

This is just a small area to clean and unweed but I felt tired after, lol. I swear a lot and oh I had the best exercise - gardening.

Someday, we will have some harvest on this too. Go! Grow our Cassava.

Our afternoon visit in the garden wouldn't be complete without our son participating in the garden. He also helped us harvest some cassava and look! He planted cassava leaves 😂😂😂. When I asked him what is it, he said, cassava. Yes it is cassava but it is just a leaf. It won't grow. He just laughed and I and his father laugh too. Our silly son leaves it there as it is.

The sun is about to set and we decided to go home, thankful for the harvest we had, for the simple bonding we got and for the exercise we did.
