Cleaning Activity

Natural disasters are occurrences that leaves harmful impacts on society/communities caused by natural phenomenal we have little or no control over. Some include tornadoes, floods etc. the most common I have witnessed is that of floods.

Before my experience with floods I only used to see it happen on tv not until we moved out to another location. It happened that although we are far from the river but surrounded by rivers. The second year of living in the community, there was a heavy downpour that started from midnight and lasted till daybreak but unknown to us, people living close to the river could not get enough sleep because of the flood. By morning it was even worse. The only thing we were seeing was the roof of some houses because it has been covered with water.

Properties were lost, some houses destroyed due to how long the water lasted. It was the following day we had to go help the few we could help move their stuff for cleaning and for three days we hosted a victim of the flood in our house because their building collapsed and needs to be fixed. Honestly I was surprised with the speed of the water and am not sure I can forget that year in a hurry. It was that bad because TV stations had to come do some cover and the state government intervened too. This was the first time I witnessed flooding and although we've never experienced such flood again, the river overflows yearly. Quite some number of persons had to relocate to another location to avoid flooding.

I also did my cleaning activity and it was fun cleaning my environment as a clean environment equals a healthy environment and mental stability. 😊
