Relook At My Busiest Assignment During Chinese New Year

Introduction
Hello all, hope all of you are doing fine. While Chinese New Year had already ended, I would like to share on a particular assignment which took 2 of my weekends and they are my biggest client for this year - Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

Chinese New Year Dinner - Not Your Usual Kind

To be invited for such a dinner, you will need to be a part of the Elite or Paiza category of their membership. Here is the table of how much you need to spend to qualify for these tiers of membership:

So essentially, you will need to spend at least 50,000 per year at the shoppes at Marina Bay Sands or the casino itself.

The above is the entrance panel of the dinner which is held at the biggest ballroom of the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

And here's my setup location for every night I am at the event:

Lighting Setup

Front

This year, it will be a drum together with the dragon typically used for dragon dance. In order for even lighting across the whole picture, a dual soft box is being setup to sandwich the light to get a nice and even light against the people and the backdrop.

Every session of this dinner, there will be 2000 guest attending and specific instruction from the organizers is that every guest must be happy and there should be no complains. A little tough for us photographers as we need to instruct a little when the frame doesn't look good, and sometimes people get annoyed because they don't like to listen to instructions.

Right beside our photobooth, it is the grand lucky draw prize of the event. Out of the 5 nights of dinner from various groups of participants, there can only be 1 winner of this grand prize:

Grand Prize - Mercedes Benz CLA200 EV

Based on what I know, the winner of this car did not want the car and exchanged for cash instead which I think is also a very good deal. He went home with over S$100,000 in cash, which is really awesome!

Not only do we have a car grand prize, there were many other prizes such as a gold plated iPhone, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 5, collectors items and many more as seen in the display cabinet in the picture below. I guess, that is how Marina Bay Sand thank their guest.

And it is usual that Marina Bay Sands will invite celebrities to come join in the celebrations with the guest and this year, they invited 4 overseas guest across the 5 nights with a maximum of 3 appearing during each night. They are:

  • (Hong Kong) Bobby Au Yueng 欧阳震华
  • (Hong Kong) Raymond Lam 林峯
  • (Hong Kong) Nick Cheung 张家辉
  • (Malaysia) Michael Wong 光良

I do know all 4 of them and their shows/music have followed me as I grew up. As I was busy shooting at the photobooth, I missed some of their performances but managed to also captured some pictures of the celebrities performing.

While I did my work, I am so glad to be able to meet the celebrities as the same time. Though it was 5 nights here, every night seemed different and I am glad I can be hired and work here to celebrate with the guest of Marina Bay Sands.

Closing

It is my 3 year running to be part of Marina Bay Sand Chinese New Year dinner, everytime is
a joy and I also strive to deliver the best quality photos to their guest and let them have a nice big photo print out to bring home.

Thank you for coming by and have a great day!

Winner of the car probably had his garage full and the cash would allow him to renew membership on MBS.
