Happiness Starts With Me: Learning to Appreciate Life

‎Hello Hives,
‎
‎There was a time when I thought happiness would come when I finally achieved the things I wanted in life. I believed that once I had enough money, a good job, and the ability to afford everything my family needed, life would become much easier and I would have every reason to be happy.

‎But the more I think about life, the more I understand that there will always be something else we want. Today, we may be praying for a job. Tomorrow, we may want a better one. After getting it, we start thinking about another goal. There is nothing wrong with wanting more from life, but I don't think we should allow our dreams to stop us from enjoying the little happiness we have today.
‎
‎Honestly, life in Nigeria alone can give someone plenty of reasons to worry. Things are expensive, responsibilities keep increasing, and sometimes the money we work hard for doesn't seem to be enough. As someone who has dreams and a family to take care of, I understand what it means to think about tomorrow even when today has not been easy at all.
‎
‎Still, I try to remind myself that life is more than the problems I am facing.
‎
‎One thing that brings me true happiness is my family. Sometimes, after a stressful day, just thinking about the people waiting for me at home gives me another reason to keep going. I want to do more for them, provide a better life, and reach a point where I don't have to worry so much about money. Those dreams are important to me, but so is enjoying the time I have with them now.
‎
‎I don't want to spend years working towards a better future only to realise that I missed the beautiful moments along the way.
‎
‎Of course, choosing happiness does not mean someone should ignore their problems or pretend to be fine when things are difficult. We all have days when we feel tired, disappointed, or worried about what comes next. I have those moments too. Sometimes, all you can do is take a deep breath, pray, and hope tomorrow brings something better.
‎
‎What I am learning is that I don't have to wait until everything is perfect for me before I appreciate my life. I can be grateful for what I have and still work hard towards what I want.
‎
‎Happiness for me, is found in the little things we sometimes overlook, like having my family around me, seeing them smile, being able to work, being healthy and waking up every morning with another opportunity to improve my life.
‎
‎I still have a long way to go, and I know there are many things I want to achieve. But I want to enjoy this journey too, not just the destination only.
