Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗
We live in a digital age where our world has become busier and noisier with each passing second. There's not a day you log on to different social media platforms that you don't get to see how noisy and busy the streets of your feeds are.
We are being bombarded with fake or half-truth news from wannabe bloggers who are just there to generate traffic to their pages.
To fervent celebrity fan bases that engage in digital brawls, tearing each other down with insults and curse words all in the name of trying to prove that their idols are the best
Or is it those friends or longtime acquaintances who keep posting who and what they are not, deceiving the gullible ones with a facade that rarely mirrors their reality.
Amidst all the endless dramas, there are always headlines of war, kidnapping, violence, tragedy, and innocent people getting killed every day in different regions of the globe.
However, if we are not being careful and conscious of the kind of information we consume, whether trivial or tragic, this can unconsciously steal our inner peace. The relentless notifications, the pressure to keep up to date, and the too much exposure to negativity— this can take a toll on one's mental health.
We can actually find ourselves feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and disconnected from our own well-being, even while being "connected" to everyone else.
But there are actually things that you can do to find peace in this noisy world; here are a few tips that have helped me personally.
Be mindful of people, groups, or pages you follow or subscribe to. And do not hesitate to unfollow anyone who consistently posts negative stuff or anything that would make you anxious or affect your mental health. As much as you can treat your feed like a garden, prune any unwanted weeds and nurture the flowers.
Practice digital detox. Presently I am on a social media break. The only social media platforms that I am on currently are WhatsApp, purposely for communication purposes; YouTube because I need to follow and watch some sermons; and then Hive. I do this often, mostly when I notice I am spending too much time online or when the negative news, like wars, killings, and kidnappings, starts affecting me. You too can practice this maybe for a few hours, a day, or even a weekend.
Use that time to do something better, like reconnect with yourself, pursue offline interests, and simply enjoy the quiet.
