Kindness Is Beautiful, But Not When Forced

There is something I found really odd, and consistently, I encounter different people in the city I reside in doing that. Personally, I love showing kindness to people in my own capacity, especially voluntarily and not by any form of pressure coming from someone or some kind of people feeling that they are entitled to it. Be you child or adult, I can be nice to you when I am moved to, but I don't like being forced.

It's high time people should stop taking advantage of each other's kind heart. It's also high time people should stop using their position to extort money forcefully from others. These are matters that have been arising for a long time around me, and it repeated itself this morning, and thus my expression via this writing.

When I gave birth to my first child, I had lots of complications that kept me in the hospital for two months. Within that period of my stay in the hospital, it was from one heavy expense to another. At one point, we ran out of money, but friends and family never left us stranded. Now, imagine me being a patient in the hospital facing extra extortion from some hospital jobbers. It's really unimaginable that people can't think right and do things rightly all because they want me to tip them before they can move my file.

Like, I found it odd because it's never part of hospital policies that patients must tip a hospital staff before being attended to, as it is supposed to be. Funny enough, these people will only attend to those that tip them first regardless of who came first. As if that wasn't enough odd experience, I started antenatal care in another hospital during my second pregnancy, and surprisingly, I will finish seeing the doctor each day only to go get my next appointment from the record department, and these women will seize my card until I tip them.

The day I refuse to tip them and have my peace, they will start raining insults on me and other women who are also refusing to tip them. I am sure only a report to the hospital management will either reset their brain or make them lose their job, but I am not ready for all of that. I expect that humans should have empathy and be reasonable. Patients are only spending in the hospital and even need help rather than being extorted from the ones they have.

Yesterday evening, my child had another crisis, and we were admitted to the emergency unit. I had one of the staff members assist me in getting some stuff outside, and I dashed her money after that. Between last night and this morning, I have spent a whole lot of money, but the most important thing is that my child is okay now, and we got discharged from the hospital this morning . Surprisingly, the same staff I dashed money to last night for assisting me came this morning in our ward to ask me for money. She saw all I was going through yesterday and didn't even find it reasonable that I am spending a lot but came to ask me for more money, maybe because I was kind enough to dash her money last night which is nice anyways .

Well, I wouldn't know what she too is passing through, but the way she was persuading me for money in my own situation was uncalled for. After all, it's not my responsibility to cater for her financial needs; I can only be kind to her or to anyone, but it shouldn't be by pressure or force. Hopefully humans can learn a better manner of approach to their fellow humans, and we can thrive better in our world.
