We'll begin today's look at history from the United States of America.
We begin today from the United States of America [The death of George Washington]. On this day in 1799, the first President of the United States of America George Washington died in Mount Vernon, Virginia, U.S.A at the age of 67 years.
Still in the USA, [the mass shootings at the Elementary School in Connecticut]. Do you also know that on this day in 2012, a 20 year old Adam Lanza went on a shooting spree in an elementary school in Newtown Connecticut which led to the demise of about 28 persons including the shooter (he took his own life) and 20 children from the Sandy Hook Elementary school. What a terrible day indeed!.
From the USA, we move over to Brazil. [the birthday of Dilma Rousseff]. Now, on this day in 1947, Dilma Rousseff, the first female President of Brazil was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Dilma Rousseff made history when she was elected President of Brazil in 2011, this becoming the first female politician to hold such a position. She was reelected in 2014 but was however impeached and removed from office in 2016.
From Brazil, we move over to the world of manufacturing [the death of John Harvey Kellogg]. Do you know that on this day in 1943, American physician and health-food pioneer in the area of flaked-cereal industry, John Harvey Kellogg died in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Denmark [the birthday of Helle Thorning-Schmidt]. Do you know that on this day in 1966, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the first female Prime Minister of Denmark was born in Rødovre, Denmark. Helle Thorning-Schmidt was the Danish Prime Minister from 2011 untill 2015. Happy birthday to her.
