Buzzparty in Vienna 24th of August 2023

Hello buzzparty poeple! Yesterday on august 24th we me up at the Feuerdorf in the popular Prater area in Vienna. The Viennese Hive community has a buzzparty each month and we rotate in organizing the meetup and posting the announcement posts. This particular buzzparty is called Hive Stammtisch. The meaning of Stammtisch is the table in any pub that is reserved for the regulars.

Who is who of HIVE Vienna
8 Hiveans made it to the fantastic location chosen by Vikisecrets aka Viktor who organized the last 2 buzzparties and will also do the next one in September.
We had @digitalmike, @thermoplastic, @mammasitta , @mers, @stayoutoftherz, @vikisecrets, @schmidi and me attending.

I won a crypto stamp!

Viktor did a provably fair giveaway between 6 participants and @stayoutoftherz who had already won a crypto stamp on a previous buzzparty and wanted someone else to win drew me as a winner. Sometimes you just gotta get lucky!

We had an interesting discussion about downvotes and if and wen they are necessary. We took sides and tried to argument for and against downvotes. We really did not get to a consensus, and we will continue the discussion next time. The arguments of both sides pro and contra downvote where equally legitimate.

In my opinion, downvotes are necessary for keeping our community safe and clean from stolen and or recycled content, or even worse criminal or fraudulent content.
The popular opinion is that you are entitled to rewards on your post, but this is not the case in my opinion. The community decides with their very own stake if and how much rewards are distributed to a certain post.
This encourages curators to vote on genuine and original content and not just dump their upvotes on anything coming along. However, downvotes can be abused just as upvotes can and might discourage new users from coming to HIVE if they see their reputation obliterated when they make a mistake.

Anyways, it was a really interesting discussion with good points on either side.

The Leo proposal

We where also discussing the LEO DHF proposal and how most of the members find it too expensive. Also I could sense some trust issues towards LEO in general.
Then again everyone is complaining about HIVE not being marketed properly. But when it comes that there is a proposal for doing so they do not want it either. Mainly because of trust issues regarding the failed IDO on cubdefi namely Cakepop. (This IDO was done by a third party and they where scammers their project went nowhere... but that is not the fault of LEO finance Team in my opinion)

The group photo

And of course we did the obligatory group photo. @stayoutoftherz not wanting to be in the image volunteered to be our photographer and several members passed their phone to him to snap a shot. I am using the image from @schmidi's post because I missed to give my phone to our photo reporter.

Upland news by @digitalmike

Digitalmike loves the game based on the EOS blockchain. The game has a huge userbase and is open for third party projects to deploy their games in the metaverse. This could be a possible big partnership between Upland and Hive. Just imagine their userbase coming to HIVE and blogging about their experiences in the game.

If you have not tried Upland yet you should definitely sign up and try it! It is absolutely free to play although you will have it quite hard to progress, it will be possible without any investment. Get a signup bonus when you become an uplander. Sign up with my link and let me know your hive username! I will send you one HSBI share as a thank you!

SIGN UP FOR UPLAND! GET HSBI!!

You can decide if you want to invest in the game or not. However, to be able to buy and sell properties for USD you will have to go through a KYC process. Digitalmike explained some basic strategies and also revealed plans that he wants to launch his own game in the ecosystem of Upland.

The view from the balkony of Feuerdorf was awesome so I had to sneak up there to snap a picture

Conclusion

All in all it was an awesome experience to see all the Hiveans again and I will try to make it to the next buzzparty! If you want to stay tuned about meetups in Vienna make sure to follow us so you do not miss out on any announcement posts and reminders.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you so much for reading my Blog! And if you made it until here you have the opportunity to get an HSBI share for only 0,001 HIVE! Send 0,001 HIVE to me and use the word buzzparty in the memo field! A maximum of 25 accounts will receive 1 HSBI share!

I'm registered in Upland from the beginning, I have several properties in San Francisco and I still don't know how the game works, I just collect the rewards. 🤣🤣

Ah, it's wonderful to put some faces to the hive account names, let's say it this way :)
I can tell you've spent some quality time! :)

It is wonderful indeed, real life meetups should be the essence and the goal of all Hive.
We are a community and community is always real humans.
Thanks for the dhedge!

Oh, indeed! I would love to meet some of the folks I know from Hive :)
Frankly, though, some other people I don't want to meet at all :))))

Someone has to be the party crashing the party
I am against the negative vote because as it happens on Facebook there are people who offend if you are born white and straight, they will use the negative vote to impose their vision of things.
Maybe the other side has a point

I fear that no consensus will be reached on either side.

I do not use facebook anymore, but I always hated that there is no dislike button.
Since the HIVE community can reward you for your posts it is important that there is a way to take away those rewards if the poster is abusing the rewardpool for example with posting multiple times to farm autovotes etc.
There could be huge botfarms posting massive amounts of low effort and or stolen content and farming rewards. these tokens will hit the exchanges and drive the price of Hive down in the long term.
There is nothing wrong with being born white and straight, you can not change that fact. Just as you can not change being of different skintone or sexual orientation.
I fear that there will never be a concensus haha. But I love the discussion.

0E-8 BEE

Good point
The opposite may also be true
There may be an army of trolls who use the negative vote in an arbitrary way to limit certain people.
There is no limit to what human evil can do.

Congrats mate! Look at your happy face 😍 Amazing! Great idea, @vikisecrets 👌🏽
But what's exactly a Crypto Stamp (Safe) for?
I read through the website but don't understand what's the purpose.
Collecting (NFTs)? Investment?
Anyway, that one is fantastic:

I'd have liked to be part of that discussion. I find it very interesting just as important.

Besides the discussion, the BuzzParty sounds and looks very good. Would really like to see you all again. However, I'm more on the other side of the mountains, Lake Constance and Switzerland when travelling at the moment.

Lovely greetings

I have not looked into crypto stamps in depth, but I think the purpose is just as with traditional stamps the thrill of collecting (if that gives you a thrill)
If you check on ebay the prior cryptostamps have quite some worth so you could consider it as investment.

Hope to see you again soon. Sadly I cann not make it to hivefest.Would have loved to give you two a big hug! Or to hang around upside down :)

I would have liked to listen to your opinion.

Well, we will skip this HiveFest, too. To many things going on, unforseen and personal events (forgot about another big event = mum's BD😅).
So, let's see when we can manage it to see you guys again. I'd love to see you again.
Maybe we plan a trip to Vienna and join a MeetUp. Planning because nothing is close to Vienna from our stays and journeys.
Do you have a schedule or calendar with your (Vienna) MeetUps?

Super exciting discussion about downvotes, both sided have good arguments, think we should try out different approaches and see what works best in practice.

0.00168332 BEE

Agreed, I will try to see more of the no dw side. It is important to be able to feel the other opinion.
It was great discussing with you and I am looking forward to the next one.

Then again everyone is complaining about HIVE not being marketed properly.

There is at least some truth in this. I saw in posts that people putting stickers advertising Hive with the "post, vote, earn" slogan, which is probably not really good for the platform in long term. The same was done with Steem in the past, and it attracted mostly greedy and selfish people. Hive need applications and games, for example Splinterlands. So actual use cases. Those would reach massive crowds. Especially games.

0.00167670 BEE

Truth, the best way to onboard is with dapps. In an ideal world the user doesn't even realize they are on a blockchain.

0E-8 BEE

You could have written more about the food there. Other than that, a solid report. I think you all had your fun there too.😁

0.00167323 BEE

I actually had Bratwurst mit Pommes! I did not take a picture though lol.

0E-8 BEE

Such a good discussion, glad I joined! thanks @vikisecrets for organizing and to all participants who came.

Great to see that you have a lot of fun, guys! I like the topics that you "covered" in your discussion and it's normal that we didn't have a consensus... That's a great excuse to go to the next Buzzparty! 😃

Greetings to all participants!

0.00165309 BEE

True! I think this will be a point of discussion unless witnesses decide to change the mechanism and get rid of DW or rewards in general. Hive is a decentralized database in the first place, the rewards for content are a goodie that should not be abused, hence why I am pro DW button even though I never use it...

0.00054482 BEE

Please can you tell me how upland works?
I tried to play the game a few years back but it was looking complicated to me.

0.00164173 BEE

You are travelling with your block explorer over different cities as you pass properties you can mint them and then they are yours. From that point on you earn income from that property every day. You can use your income to buy more properties or to travel to different locations. It is a very slow paced game and it takes a while until you get into it.

Good to see the Vienna tradition going on, after all that happened. Keep it up guys and congrats everyone. Gratula Solymi, szép munka!

Nice to see you @mers joining them and having fun 😘

Köszönöm szépen! Mindig elfelejtem hogy tudsz Magyarul.
It is good to get back to normal finally.

Nem baj, megértjük egymást 😀

So the tradition goes on I understand 👍
