El 9 de enero de 1768, llegaron a la Nueva España las primeras tropas del Regimiento de Infantería de Saboya, enviadas por la Corona Española para reforzar la defensa del virreinato ante la creciente amenaza británica y los movimientos de insurrección en las colonias. Este hecho marcó un hito en la reorganización militar del virreinato y la presencia borbónica en América.

El Regimiento de Saboya fue uno de los más prestigiosos de la época y tuvo un papel importante en la defensa territorial, así como en la vida política y militar de la Nueva España en las décadas siguientes.

🕊️ Esta presencia militar también tuvo implicaciones culturales, al introducir nuevos estilos de vida, disciplina castrense y estructuras de poder que serían parte del caldo de cultivo de los futuros movimientos de independencia.
