It's funny how certain smells, tastes, sights or sounds can bring back memories that had long been dormant in the mind. As I've gotten older I've found that it happens more and more often, and it's nice how the stimuli can bring you back to a time already long past. This time of year one sight that really stimulates that part of my mind are sunflowers. My mother used to plant them all over the yard and it was a beautiful sight to behold.
I think that's why when I saw a new coin being produced by the US Mint it really caught my eye. It's the first time a coin from the US features a sunflower! It's very fitting as North America is where the species first evolved, although it's now found all over the world with hundreds of variants bred over the centuries. The coin is the American Liberty 2025 High Relief gold coin made of .9999 pure gold!

Isn't that a gorgeous coin? The detail in the sunflower are stunning and even feature a honey bee which is perfect for Hive! It's going to be one Troy ounce of pure gold and will have a high relief design. That means that the features of the coins will be raised higher than the typical coin, making them really stand out!
Then on the reverse (back) of the coin is an awesome eagle design. What a beautiful coin, it's one I definitely want to add to my stack. The price is going to be a little painful at $4,615, but will be one that will appreciate in value quickly in my opinion! Only 12,000 will be minted, so a relatively rare coin. I'll have to see if I can't find a way to fit it in the budget!

A picture I took some years back while visiting family out of state
Members of the daisy family, the sunflower was first domesticated in North America although exactly when is unclear. It was introduced into Europe in the 1600's and since has spread around the world and is a valuable cash crop particularly in Ukraine and Russia. The wild variety tends to have multiple flower whereas the domesticated versions tend to be larger with one single flower.
An interesting fact is that young plants will have the flower buds follow the sun throughout the day. Once they reach maturity they no longer track the sun but stay in an easterly orientation, as to always face the sun during sunrise. Why? No one knows.
They are my personal favorite flower, obviously going back to when my mother planted them in her yard. The bright yellow is a great way to brighten any day and ever time I see them I can't help but to smile. I have so many great memories tied to them!
That will wrap up today's post. Not having the giveaway post is still a bit odd to me, so I will have to find a new topic to fill in Sunday from now on. Please feel free to leave any questions or comments below. Thank you everyone for all of your support, it's deeply appreciated! Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Wow, now that is one attractive coin. I think you're right that it will go up quickly. If I had the money, that'd be an insta-buy for me. ...too bad I don't have the money.
Over $4 grand for an ounce of gold, I remember paying less than $1 K around 25 years ago! It's definitely going to be a winner, the trick is affording one!
What an amazing coin. Wouldn't mind owning one... or a few. !BBH
I'm with you all the way on that one. I wouldn't mind having a few of these around graded MS70! They are expensive unfortunatley with gold prices being so high!

This is definitely a gorgeous gold coin!🤗
So nice to see the US mint producing beautiful gold coins like this!👍😊
Now is they would only make beautiful coins for circulation again and lose all of the old dead guys on there now...
That for sure such a lovely coin. the bee as you said is the next touch for us Hivers, the busy bee. :)
I love also how the detailed and the way the show the eagle, it shows the power and the elegant that the eagle have.

Thanks! It's a very cool coin, sadly not a cheap one though! The sunflower with the bee is what really caught my eye!

I consider the current price to be a bargain if they’re still available…
If you can afford it, in a couple years it may be going for near $10K!
I’d be better off buying $4,000 in Common U.S. Coinage and using the $4,000 to buy 40 of them on the other side of the Reset…
Sunflowers are pretty cool and that does look a cool coin, but as expensive as it is then I am sure like you that it would turn a profit quite quickly!
With a high relief coin that is designed well it should increase in value over the next couple of years. But they are expensive! I remember buying a one ounce gold coin for the mint over 20 years ago for around $1200!
You still have that one?
I love seeing big fields of sunflowers! They do put on a show. The sunflower coin is awesome.
Love your molten signature banner, too!
I love sunflowers too, just so cheery. I would love to get one of these we'll just have to see if I can afford it or not!
I'm glad you liked the molten gif at the end. That was fun to add in!
Nice design, and out of my and about 98% of all Stacker's affordability range too.
I'll be on 1/4 oz Gold Maples.

One ounce of gold is getting out of just about everybody's budget these days. The quarter ounce if just so much less painful when you get to the checkout! lol

Its funny you mention sunflowers. It brought back memories for me as well. I'm originally from South Dakota and I believe they are 2nd in sunflower production nationally behind North Dakota. I think of all the ones (wild) i chopped down walking bean fields when I was a teenager. Cool coin its neat it has a bee on the flower.

Sunflowers are just so pretty, I didn't realize that they grew so much in the Dakotas. I'm not sure I I'll be able to afford the coin though, $4 grand is a lot of money!
