I think he liked the adrenaline of the gamble. Plus his wife got a monthly payment from an inheritance, so the money wasn't that important, for him it was fun I think!

It was fun, until a person lands in the ditch and losses all that money. Many people in the world can't even afford to eat 3 times a day lol. What a man!
