It’s my birthday on Hive! / È il mio compleanno su Hive [ENG/ITA]

Today is my third birthday on Hive. The @stewie.wieno account was created on July 17, 2021. I think it's time to take stock of this experience and decide what to do in the future.

Three years ago I created my account on Hive without knowing it. In fact, I arrived for Splinterlands and created the account, without realising it, to play.

Only later did I find out that in addition to the card game there was much more. This is also why my first post on the blockchain came a few weeks later.

In these three years a lot of things have happened both personally and as a user.

I experienced the enthusiasm of late 2021 and early 2022, the subsequent periods of lean. I've seen projects be born, grow and, some, die. I learned a few things about how blockchains work, the size of Hive in the blockchain landscape, about decentralisation. A lot, I'm sure, I still have to learn.

I made a lot of mistakes and most likely experienced them with a wrong feeling. I walked away and came back.

In short, like all life experiences, my relationship with Hive was also complex and multifaceted.

In view of my birthday on Hive I wanted to calculate how much my presence on the blockchain is worth to date. An approximate value, just to give me an idea.

At the moment the @stewie.wieno account owns assets, crypto and tokens for an equivalent of about $890. However, I am sure that the rewards from blogging have been higher, who knows if there is a service or a tool that can tell me how much they are.

In any case, there is no point in looking into the past and always complaining. We need to look to the future and take advantage of the knowledge gained to face tomorrow. This is why I have set myself a goal. Only one, on which to focus all the energies for the future.

I want to become a dolphin

A while ago @libertycrypto27 made me think a lot with one of his remarks: why should others vote for me if I delegate my voting power away first?

The starting point was the fact that I delegate almost all my HP to @leo.voter to get back the LEO tokens and in this way when I go to curate the content of others, my vote is worth very little.

This made me think a lot, I am well aware of those accounts that leave me meaningful votes and if every now and then someone new happens to me, I go to see them and vote for their contents. Having a full-bodied grade allows you to get noticed.

This aspect, combined with the disastrous experience I have gained in these three years on almost all the projects born on Hive, has led me to focus on a single goal: to grow the Hive Power of my account. I know it seems obvious, but evidently I needed three years and countless mistakes to come to this conclusion.

At the moment I have 2468 HP plus another 180 Hive ready for Power Up Day on August 1st. So a total of about 2650 HP. From now on this will be the only number I want to increase. The goal is to become a dolphin, that is, to reach 10,000 HP.

I don't set a deadline to achieve this. It would just be a source of unnecessary personal pressure. Instead, I prefer to focus on the finish line and not be distracted by allocating resources to other projects.

I hope this birthday can be the beginning of a new phase of my journey on Hive.

A special mention goes to the whole Italian community that in these three years has supported me, endured, listened to me, advised me. I know I'm a big pain in the ass, a critic and a rosicon. But I recognise everything you have done for me. I would love to see a more united community, which supports each other. That's why I immediately wanted to support the development and growth of @balaenoptera. I think together we can do and achieve a lot more.

Oggi è il mio terzo compleanno su Hive. L’account @stewie.wieno è stato creato il 17 Luglio 2021. Credo sia il momento per fare un bilancio di questa esperienza e decidere cosa fare in futuro.

Tre anni fa creai il mio account su Hive senza saperlo. Arrivai infatti per Splinterlands e creai l’account, senza rendermene conto, per giocare.
Solo successivamente scoprii che oltre al gioco di carte c’era molto di più. Anche per questo il mio primo post sulla blockchain è arrivato qualche settimana dopo.

In questi tre anni sono successe un sacco di cose sia dal punto di vista personale, che come utente.

Ho vissuto l’entusiasmo della fine del 2021 e inizio 2022, i periodi di magra successivi. Ho visto progetti nascere, crescere e, alcuni, morire. Ho imparato alcune cose sul funzionamento delle blockchain, sulla dimensione di Hive nel panorama delle blockchain, sulla decentralizzazione. Molto, ne sono certo, ho ancora da imparare.
Ho fatto molti sbagli e li ho vissuti molto probabilmente con un sentimento sbagliato. Mi sono allontanato e sono tornato.

Insomma, come tutte le esperienze della vita, anche il mio rapporto con Hive è stato complesso e sfaccettato.

In vista del mio compleanno su Hive ho voluto calcolare quanto vale la mia presenza sulla blockchain ad oggi . Un valore approssimativo, giusto per farmi una idea.
Al momento l’account @stewie.wieno possiede assets, crypto e token per un controvalore di circa 890$. Sono però certo che le ricompense dalla attività di blogging sono state superiori, chissà se esiste un servizio o un tool che sia in grado di dirmi a quanto ammontano.

In ogni caso, non ha senso guardare al passato e lamentarsi sempre. Serve guardare al futuro e sfruttare la conoscenza guadagnata per affrontare il domani. Per questo mi sono fissato un obiettivo. Uno solo, su cui concentrare tutte le energie per il futuro.

Voglio diventare un delfino

Un po’ di tempo fa @libertycrypto27 mi ha fatto molto riflettere con una sua osservazione: perché altri dovrebbero votarmi se io per primo delego via il mio potere di voto?
Lo spunto riguardava il fatto che delego quasi tutti i miei HP a @leo.voter per ottenere indietro i token LEO e in questo modo quando vado a curare i contenuti altrui, il mio voto vale davvero poco.

Questo mi ha fatto molto riflettere, io ho ben presente quali sono quegli account che mi lasciano voti significativi e se ogni tanto me ne capita qualcuno nuovo, vado a vederli e voto i loro contenuti. Avere un voto corposo permette di farsi notare.

Questo aspetto, unito alla esperienza disastrosa che in questi tre anni ho maturato su quasi tutti i progetti nati su Hive, mi ha portato a puntare su un solo obiettivo: far crescere l’Hive Power del mio account. So che sembra una cosa ovvia, ma evidentemente avevo bisogno di tre anni e innumerevoli sbagli per arrivare a questa conclusione.

Al momento ho 2468 HP cui si aggiungono altri 180 Hive pronti per il Power Up Day del 1 Agosto. Quindi un totale di circa 2650 HP. Da ora in poi questo sarà l’unico numero che voglio fare aumentare. L’obiettivo è diventare un delfino, cioè raggiungere i 10.000 HP.

Non mi fisso un termine per raggiungere questo obiettivo. Sarebbe solo una fonte di pressione personale inutile. Preferisco invece concentrarmi sul traguardo e non farmi distrarre destinando risorse ad altri progetti.

Spero che questo compleanno possa essere l’inizio di una nuova fase del mio percorso su Hive.

Una menzione particolare va a tutta la community italiana che in questi tre anni mi ha supportato, sopportato, ascoltato, consigliato. So di essere un gran rompiscatole, un criticone e un rosicone. Ma riconosco tutto quello che avete fatto per me. Mi piacerebbe vedere una community più unita, che si supporta. Per questo fin da subito ho voluto sostenere lo sviluppo e la crescita di @balaenoptera. Penso che insieme possiamo fare e ottenere molto di più.
