Getting Started in Soulkeep

Today I decided to try out a new game on Hive, it's called Soulkeep and it's related to Splinterlands but it's a company called Double Coconout that manages the game.

I'm excited about discovering this game because I love the style of it but it seems that there have been some problems since the launch and they had to reset the game, this is probably bad news for those who invested time and money in the game but it's great news for players like me who have just discovered it.

At first I don't plan on making a big investment because I'm still learning how the game works and also the rewards haven't been released yet since they reset the game, it seems that they will only be released on Monday and the rewards come through the tournament mode.

Since there are only a few days left until the tournament mode is released, I'm going to take advantage of it and learn as much as possible about Soulkeep so that when this mode is released, I won't be left behind and can make the most of the rewards now that all the players have returned to league 1. However, I still lose out in terms of knowledge because many players must already have experience with the game and with the higher leagues, but it's still an advantage for me to start the game from the beginning along with everyone else.

From what I understand so far, each league has 5 phases and to advance to the next one you need to complete all 5 and also get the amount of souls needed to advance. Souls are obtained through the 5 phases of each league, through tournaments and through Soul Boxes that are sold within the game.

Each Soul Box costs 150 DEC/Credits and gives you the chance to get the following amount of souls:

The 5 phases of the league, also called Gateway, only count souls if you complete the phase, and you can only complete each phase once.

The other way is through tournaments, and from what I've read, you earn souls regardless of whether or not you complete all the waves, and you can buy tickets to participate again up to a maximum of 10 times per day.

As I'm learning about the game, I'm still having a bit of trouble getting through the gateway phases, but I've already managed to get through phase 3 with just a few tries.

This is a screenshot of the last wave of phase 2. I had to try 5 times to get through it and finally managed to do it. I was also being stupid and tried to get through only with the towers the game offered me instead of renting some from the market, which are much more powerful. Now that I have them with me, it will probably be easier to get through the next phases.

After completing all the waves of the second phase, this was the amount of souls I managed to get and after seeing the amount needed to advance to league 2, I think the gateway phases will not be enough and I will need to buy Soul Boxes or wait for the tournaments to open.

It is not a very large amount to advance so I think I will wait for the tournaments to open instead of buying Soul Boxes, I also need to see the profitability of the game before making any investment beyond the ones I have made so far which were renting some towers on the market.
