Battling against the Super Sneak Rule

In battles with the Super Sneak rule, I like to use monsters that have the Thorns ability because I know there is a high chance that my opponent will use several monsters with melee attacks, so today I will talk a little about my strategy for this rule with the death deck in Splinterlands.

See the Battle

In addition to the Super Sneak rule, there is also the Healed Out rule in this battle.

  • In the Super Sneak rule, all monsters receive the Sneak ability, which means that they will target the opponent's monster that is positioned in the last position. With this rule, monsters with melee attacks will also be able to attack in any position, which is why it is common to see the player use several monsters with melee attacks when this rule is in battle.

Remember that the monster that is in the first position will still attack the enemy monster that is in the first position.

  • In the Healed Out rule, monsters lose all abilities that restore life, which means that the abilities Heal, Triage and Tank Heal cannot be used in battle.

As I mentioned before, there is a high chance that my opponent will use several monsters with melee attacks in battle when the Super Sneak rule is in effect, so I developed my strategy for this battle with this possibility in mind.

To start, I selected the summoner Thaddius Brood since this is a battle with little mana available, so Thaddius Brood was my best option in my collection with the death deck for this battle.

  • Thaddius Brood will reduce the magic attack and life of my opponent's monsters by -1.

In the first position, I selected Cursed Windeku, he will be my main defense in the Frontline and also my main card in this battle since in addition to having a lot of life and attack, he also has the ability Thorns.

  • Monsters that have the Thorns ability will deal 2 physical damage to monsters with melee attacks that attack them.

In the second and third positions I selected Carrion Shade and Corpse Fiend, both are monsters with melee attacks that have a low mana cost and I selected them in these positions because they will be safe in the battle since my opponent will need to eliminate Cursed Windeku or Crypt Beetle first to deal damage to Carrion Shade or Corpse Fiend.

In the fourth and last position I selected Crypt Beetle, it is also a monster with melee attacks and its main function will be to defend the backline against monsters that have the Sneak ability. Crypt Beetle is a monster with a low mana cost and it has the Shield ability, so it is the perfect choice to defend the backline against melee and ranged attacks.

  • Monsters that have the Shield ability will only receive half the damage against melee and ranged attacks.

Just as I imagined, my opponent selected most of his monsters with melee attacks, so my strategy will work very well against him.

Basically, my strategy comes down to Cursed Windeku defending the Frontline and Crypt Beetle defending the Backline. I could also switch the roles of both, but I feel more confident leaving Cursed Windeku in the first position because he is my monster that will cause the most damage in battle, so keeping him alive in battle for longer is a good choice.

With this strategy, I was able to "easily" beat my opponent. I only lost Cursed Windeku, but that happened because my opponent used a Debuff that reduces the attack of my melee monsters, so I caused less damage than I expected in the battle.
