Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: In Depth Look at Tasoshi Drakamoto!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge! Today, we will take an in-depth look at the new Voucher Exclusive Promo Card, #TasoshiDrakamoto!

Cost

One BCX of Tasoshi Drakamoto costs 250 vouchers or $7. If you're not producing vouchers and instead buying it from hive-engine, you will find this cost a bit daunting since some legendary Conclave Arcana card costs the same. A level three with Inspire will set you back by $70 and a max level for a hefty sum of $320.

Every purchase has a two percent (2%) chance for gold foil boosted with alchemy potions and a 1 in 4,000 chance for black foil, also chances can be improved with midnight potions.

Stats and Abilities

Tasoshi Drakamoto is an epic Fire unit. At level one, it deals two magic damage and has two speed. On defense, it has two armor and ample health of five. It also has the Sneak ability, harassing rear enemy units. At level three, it gains the Inspire ability, buffing melee allied units with plus one attack. At level five, it will have the Stun ability, making the enemy units lose turns. It will also raise it's attack to three at level four. At max level, it will gain its fourth ability, Spite which guarantees Counterattack when she dies. She's a bit on the hefty side when it comes to mana at eight so you will have to choose the battles and determine if she's really needed in that battle.

Synergies and Combos

Since Tasoshi Drakamoto is a Drakoshan, she can take advantage of the Bloodline Dominion by the Dragon archon, Kavor Skarn. At level three, she can team up with melee units to take advantage of his Inspire ability. I can see her teaming up with Cavewise Wavefinder and Vicious Giraffe, adding one more melee power to the Reckless/Painforge combo.

She can also work alongside Bren Palesworn who also has the Sneak ability. She can buff his melee attack while they disrupt the enemy units from behind with sneak attacks.

As for Rebellion and Dragon cards (remember that she can be summoned by Kavor Skarn), there are a host of melee cards she can work with.

There are the likes of Mantaroth and Venka the Vile, both neutral legendary melee units.

Night Stalker and Gobalano Soldier are other units that can combo with Tasoshi with similar utility as Bren Palesworn. Both are also melee Sneak attackers. Imagine all four units working together with a strong tank in front. It will rain hell on the enemy back line.

Fellow Drakoshans Dragon Egg Forager and Kei can benefit from her Inspire ability while also attacking from behind a strong tank. All three can benefit from the speed buff provided by Kavor Skarn's Bloodline Dominion.

Aside from Mantaroth, strong tanks that can be used with Tasoshi Drakamoto are Chaos Golem, Oridium Graybrow or the rare card Drybone Megalodon.

Rulesets

Being a magic damage dealer, she will be good in such rulesets as Wands Out, Keep Your Distance or even Back to Basics. To take advantage of her Inspire ability, she can also be good unit in such rulesets where most melee units are used such as Melee Mayhem, Super Sneak and Equal Opportunity. On the other hand, you will have to watch your mana when playing her.

My Take on Tashoshi Drakamoto - Yay or Nay?

Tasoshi Drakamoto is not a bad unit. However, for a promo card with such price tag, players may want to look elsewhere. She's a decent card but not that great. There may be some situations when you can field her in battle but she's not a key card. Even the former promo card, Kelan Gaines is better in my opinion.
