It used to be possible to expect rewards at the end of each splinterlands' season. It was possible to find a large amount of SPS in a single chest, making it extremely beneficial to continue earning chests until the final hour of the season.
It was a lovely setup, but nowadays we have something different: earning a set amount of SPS daily and expecting glints for upgrading and purchasing soulbound cards. I do not like it, and I doubt anyone else does, but it is the reality of splinterlands today.
The 2k DEC battle pass to play Splinterlands was also not as good. We probably expected to earn a lot more SPS because of the fee, but I do not think we did.
However, we continue to play the game for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I need to put my cards to work and earn ROI from them, and the game is also enjoyable.
So the splinterlands season has ended, and it is a good time to upgrade soulbound cards. I do not earn as many Glints as the guys with 100 to 200k staked SPS, so I have to make do with the ones I do get.
I can not afford to buy any SPS at this point, so I joined a new guild in the hopes of getting more value for them by earning more SPS, and so far it is working out well. We earned 5k merits and 43 SPS during our last Guild outing.
This was over x8 from my previous Guild and it's better. I got my highest stash of merit in a very long time and I got about 7 gladius cases for 14k. It is also my biggest opening since joining Splinterlands, thanks to my higher merit earnings from my new guild.
So here are the cards I received from the Gladius case opening. I opened a 7-pack and received a legendary card as well as a dozen rares but no epics. I already have a copy of the legendary JINI GUISE.
To me, it is more of a squad card, and I rarely use it unless I am looking to see what else it has in level 2. I believe it is a fairly useless legendary card.
Oh, it gains the blind ability at level, but it remains a completely useless card to me. So, rather than upgrading it, I may just burn the other copy for merit and move on.
I got four EPIC cards and nothing special, except that one of my epic cards reached level 2 and gained an exciting ability that none of my other cards have. So it is called the execute ability.
I am not sure how powerful this ability is, but I have generally avoided using this EPIC card at level one. Why?
With only a opportunity ability, it hardly fit into most of my strategies, but this new ability might make me use the Thandolorian Blade and find a place for it in my life up, just like I always blindly do with the Olivia of the Brook. (In the meantime, I will talk about using the Olivia in another post someday.)
Another card with an exciting new ability is the common card NIMBLEDOOK EXPLORER, which is a life element common card that I now have at level five.
This is the first time I have ever had a card with armored strike. Of course, I'm a small player and many big players already have cards with this ability. I am not sure how it works because it is a card without an attack type.
I have previously used it for weapon training and it worked well with the shield it provides; I am looking forward to seeing how it attacks with the armour without an attack type. I do not usually do a report on my common cards, but I am making an exception because this card has an exciting new ability that I have yet to test.
Overall, the best part of my season was joining a new guild. I earn 45k Glints from my ranked battles, and doubled, I got 90k and went shopping.
My SPS earnings have not increased because my staked SPS is unfortunately small. I purchased some small SPS when the price was at its lowest a few months ago.
I should have dug deeper and purchased a lot more; I could have easily sold some and made a profit at this price. However, the money I spent was something I could afford to lose. Investment 101. I suppose that without risk, there is no reward. This was the highlight of my previous season.

I am glad that you found a new guild and were able to get a decent chunk of SPS/merits. Those rewards add up over time. I don't use Jini much either. I think Quora or Katrelba are just too good for me to even consider it.
You're right, the Quora or katrelba are miles better and it just makes it almost impossible to consider the Jini.
8x more SPS in brawls compared to your last guild shows that you made a great move switching guilds.
I think that was my biggest achievement. I was getting frustrated with the way the former Guild was going, I only regretted not leaving earlier out of loyalty.
Loyalty has its benefits sometimes, long term. Maybe not in this case.

Interesting article. Best wishes.
The Jini card is really cool, I like using that one! Glad to hear you are earning more glints, it helps getting those reward cards. SPS is tough unless you have a huge stash which I don't either. I'm not sure if the 2000 DEC battle pass is really worth it with how much I earn. I'm a little disappointed because to really earn I would have to rent a lot of expensive SPS and cards as well. I'm just not sure I want to throw more money into the game...
