Except that you are new, the decrease in engagement and activities on Hive is undeniable.
Historically, I believe it went like this: people became frustrated with price action or downvotes in the middle of a crab or dumping market, and they decided to stop posting altogether.
For some, it may simply be that summer has arrived and they want to take time off to go on vacation; for others, I believe it may be related to real-life issues.
However, this is not limited to Hive.
The larger alt market has continued to stall slightly, with the exception of ETH, SOL, and XRP, but overall, the alt market has gained some decent pumps, but not the mind-blowing lumps we saw in 2021.
The funny thing is that the best time to build is when sentiment is low; you can capitalize on the sound of silence to make yourself heard. What I mean to say is that the best times to get yourself heard is when there is less noise.
In a month or two, people will be back fighting for the reward pool, getting involved in downvote battle, when they could actually be here at this moment, when the noise is minimal and make themselves big. Now is the best time to lock in, it's also the best time to find connections, make more friends and networking.
This is when there are no rat races or marathon to be run, it's just everyone running at their own pace, because activities are already reduced and you don't have to compete with someone else to make your voice heard.
Yes, I understand that there's market uncertainty, and this also makes people leave to chase the next big thing, everyone wants to pivot to where the money is big and they forget the golden rule: accumulate when the noise is minimal and give yourself a bigger edge of being very early

However, there could be other factors as well, I'm just thinking the most dominant factor is that the market hasn't pumped as much as the expectations that are there, but this is actually the edge. The market rewards people for loyalty and conviction, unfortunately to have three two can be very difficult, but people who are known to have these two are always rewarded when the time is right.

I guess the bug dump of hive after Xmas made many people drop and stop bothering for the few pennies, now that it's rising again some people are coming back... As you say it's easier to build up on bad times rather than when it's all going well
When it's already gone up, no one wants to spend the time supporting another person, that's because they're too busy themselves trying to also take profit too. In 2 months time, it'll be too late lol
Personally , I see engagement on hive as a sure way to grow wether we are in bear or bull season. I have tasted, seen and believed! We can't go wrong with connecting with more pple in this space. However , I can't deny that real life activities chokes sometimes and deprive me of what I love doing here.

The engagement on Hive has dropped and that's basically the angle I'm seeing it. I'm of the the opinion that this is that time of the market where people should spend more time here, making friends and networking, in 2 months time, it'll be too late lol.
Staying focus and grinding the moon is closer than we think, if hive engine will just fix their 30days open order policy hive will gain more traction although it will be another season of shit tokens floating in the market

Hive engine base coin is hive so who ever wants to trade there will need to buy hive first b4 converting to the token he or she wants
It is very discouraging to put effort when everything looks quiet but what most people don't know is, that is the right time to build capacity and gain grounds. I'll take this as an advise purposely made for me.

But some people won't understand, they feel like they have to see the money before growing big and don't wait for people or trying to compete with them, there's no way you will grow. Invests when the time is right and enjoy the fruit. Plans, Make lesser noise and let your money speak.
Okay, yes. However, my point is that on Hive, engagement is lesser when the market is on the low, that's the price of the token. This is actually the most important time on Hive, because in two months time, no one will have the time to support others, because they'll be taking profit
