In the novel we can see heathcliff,Catherine,the earnshaws and the lintons.The novel is mainly based on heathcliff and Catherine who met as children,mr earnshaw adopted heathcliff from Liverpool and brought him home then his daughter Catherine saw him and became his friend,she gave him the name heathcliff and made him her best friend.

Catherine has an elder brother who was rude and ruthless towards heathcliff,he always made it clear to him that he is a slave and nothing more,he even beats him up whenever he’s angry, heathcliff endures all these,there is a time Catherine and heathcliff went to the garden to play and came home very late,heathcliff keeps begging her to let them go home but she asked him to play some more and when they finally got home,hindly, Catherine’s brother wanted to punish her but heathcliff takes the blame for her and lies that he is the cause of their lateness and this makes hindley unleash his anger on heathcliff,he beat heathcliff mercilessly and brutally and Catherine feels guilty and apologizes to him and they slept off in the attic.

The closeness and intimacy makes this two fall in love and became fond of one another,Catherine’s day isn’t complete without heathcliff in it and the same goes for heathcliff.The lintons came to the countryside and the earnshaws heard about this,while Catherine is peeking through the fence,she sprains her ankle and falls and this leads to her meeting edgar the only don of the lintons,he falls for her at first sight and Catherine stays in thrush cross grange, where they reside,for six weeks,during this six weeks she was taught basic woman etiquette and was taught to be ladylike,she returns home,she looks different and elegant which leaves everyone surprised.Edgar comes to visit Catherine and proposes to her,she accepts and discusses with her maid nelly,she tells nelly that she truly loves heathcliff but it’ll belittle her to marry a slave,this conversation is heard by heathcliff and this makes him run away and she later married edgar.

I’ll advise everyone who has the opportunity to read this to always make the right decisions in order to prevent future catastrophes like divorce and other marital issues because when you marry people not because of love the problem will always await you in the nearest future.
