I’ve alway been a fan of comics. Well more or less of course, but recently a new spin off reincarnation of DCs most infamous reimagined by Scott snyder caught me off guard.
Absolute Batman.
Now to me it’s not really about his brute strength, overpowering build or relentless indifference, But his ability to exert himself in ways that aren’t required or remotely necessary. He stands by principles. One of many is his no kill rule despite constantly tipping that border of murdering someone or his refusal to use any corrupted or incompetent alternatives that are threats to his morality rather then his signature gear, mental and physical abilities.
One thing that also fascinates me is his history. For someone who’s an outlier to say the least, he’s a record holder in his own right. A man who prospered in Sciences & engineering, military theory and the likes. Excelled in all physical sports, a formidable fighter gaining combat experience by physical sparring and fighting in his own environment since he couldn’t even afford extracurricular combat training.
Fictional or not, it’s pretty fair to say that this is one hell of an individual. For me this variant of one of my favourite comic character speaks volumes to me and how I navigate my own objective reality. Achievement isn’t a matter of willpower or even discipline so to speak. You do things to be the best of the best and that’s it. No searches for approval or validation, no gimmicks or trying to run the extra mile just for the show. No complaining, no motivational drive. You break a leg but the cycle continues. You do the most and that’s the end of that.
Maybe have a moment to think why Mr/Miss does-it-all over there ends up having it all at the end of the day.
