Using Armor Wisely

In this post I will talk about a Tank card in Splinterlands that has been one of my best choices when it is combined with the Resurrect ability or the Born Again rule, but of course it is even better if it has both.

Born Again - This rule makes all monsters in the battle receive the Rebirth ability and this ability makes the monster resurrect itself 1x per battle and with 1 life and 100% armor, the monster will also have all negative magical effects removed and all positive magical effects are reapplied.

Resurrect - This ability will make an allied monster be resurrected after being defeated, it will return with 1 life, 100% armor, all negative magical effects removed and all positive magical effects reapplied, this ability can only be used 1x.

The card I am talking about is Legionnaire Alvar and why is it a perfect card for this scenario? Because it has a large amount of shield and also the ability Void Armor. I'll explain it in a better way.

Legionnaire Alvar is a melee card with a mana cost of 9 and it has 4 abilities at maximum level, which are Void Armor, Giant Killer, Demoralize and Deathblow.

Void Armor - With this ability, the monster's armor will be able to defend itself against magical attacks, so magical attacks will only cause damage to the monster's health after the armor is broken.

Giant Killer - With this ability, the monster will cause double damage against monsters that cost 10 or more mana.

Demoralize - With this ability, the monster will reduce the melee attack of enemy monsters by -1 while it is in battle.

Deathblow - With this ability, the monster will cause double damage when there is only 1 enemy monster left in the battle.

All of Legionnaire Alvar's abilities are great, but for my strategy the main one is Void Armor because, as I mentioned before, both in the Born Again battle rule and with the Resurrect ability, the monster returns to battle with 100% armor, and since Legionnaire Alvar has the Void Armor ability, his armor works as if it were a life since it will defend himself from all types of attacks in battle.

This battle is a perfect example where the Born Again rule exists and I also use a summoner that has the Resurrect ability. My strategy will work in a very simple way, since Legionnaire Alvar is my tank card and my opponent doesn't have any monsters that attack my backline, he will be the main target of the attacks and this means that he will be my first monster to be defeated and then he will be able to return to the battle twice thanks to the Born Again rule and the Resurrect ability and whenever he returns he will have 100% of his armor restored, which in his case is 9 armor and since it works like a life, he will return to the battle with 10 life twice.

It's a very simple strategy but very useful and if you watch the battle above you will see Legionnaire Alvar resisted for a long time which was very useful since it gave enough time for my monsters to attack several times, making me gain the numerical advantage. Furthermore, the summoner Astral Entity, who was the summoner I chose for this battle, also granted the ability Dodge to my monsters and it was also of great help since it made Legionnaire Alvar dodge some attacks which gave even more time to my monsters.
