The Power to Dodge Attacks

Void Dragon is one of my favorite cards in Splinterlands. It belongs to the Dragon deck and has a great chance of dodging attacks, which is why I love using it in my battles.

As I mentioned before, Void Dragon belongs to the Dragon deck and is a legendary monster with a magic attack and has 3 very useful abilities in battles: Flying, Void, and Phase.

To better understand how Void Dragon is a great choice for battle, I will explain how its abilities work.

Flying - This ability will increase Void Dragon's chances of dodging melee and ranged attacks by +25% against monsters that do not have the Flying ability.

Void - This ability will halve the magic damage that Void Dragon receives. So if a monster with 4 magic attack attacks Void Dragon, then this monster will only cause 2 magic damage to Void Dragon.

Phase - This ability will allow the Void Dragon to dodge magical attacks.

  • Since the Void Dragon has the Phase ability, the +25% dodge that the Flying ability grants will also be applied against magical attacks.

The Void Dragon can dodge all 3 types of attacks, so it will be useful against all monsters that exist in Splinterlands. Since it has high speed, its chances of dodging are high if combined with the Flying ability. I will demonstrate this through a battle.

Link to the Battle

In this battle, I used the Void Dragon as my main defense in Frontline. Although the Carnage Titan is also an excellent defense, I trust the Void Dragon more. If you watch this battle, you will understand why I am saying this.

My strategy for the battle was simple and I will explain why I chose these monsters and summoner for the battle.

Let's start with the summoner.

Quix the Devious - This is the summoner I chose for the battle, he belongs to the dragon deck and his function will be to decrease the speed and ranged attack of my opponent's monsters by -1.

Void Dragon - I have already explained the function of this monster before, but basically his function is to dodge attacks.

Oshuur Constantia - This is another monster from the dragon deck and his function will be to heal the Void Dragon with his Tank Heal ability and use his Resurrect ability to bring the Void Dragon back to the battle.

Adelade Brightwing - This is a monster from the life deck and his main function is to increase the speed of my monsters by +1 with his Swiftness ability.

Time Mage - This is a monster from the life deck and its function is to decrease the speed of my opponent's monsters by -1 with its Slow ability and decrease the armor of my opponent's monsters by -2 with its Rust ability.

Venari Crystalsmith - This is a monster from the life deck and its main function is to heal the Void Dragon with its Tank Heal ability.

In addition to all these utilities, these monsters will also be very useful in causing damage to my opponent's monsters since they have a strong attack.

  • With all these Buffs on my monsters and Debuffs on my opponent's monsters, this battle became easier for the Void Dragon because it has more chances to dodge attacks since my opponent's monsters have little speed.

It was not an easy battle and I had to use the Resurrect ability 2x to bring the Void Dragon back to the battle but in the end everything worked out and I managed to emerge victorious from the battle without losing any of my monsters and the Void Dragon came out with full health.

Thanks for this post, I better understood the advantages of the VOID ability, which I had not considered much until now. By the way, the combination of the VOID + PHASE abilities seems like a really nice combination that helps the card to take little damage from magical attacks.
