Protecting the Backline in Splinterlands

There are less than 6 days left until the Splinterlands season ends and so far my earnings are going well, as I mentioned in other posts I changed my strategy for the game and decided to rent a larger amount of SPS and also better and stronger cards so that my earnings in SPS and Glint would increase and I could have a better profit in the season.

I am currently renting 100,000 SPS and with my current deck I managed to reach the Champion 3 league for the first time in the game, I have to admit that reaching this league for the first time is exciting because it was always one of my wishes when I started playing in 2022, but the current earnings in the game are a bit disappointing compared to the golden age in Splinterlands. I am aware that the amount of SPS I am renting is not enough to have good results in my current league and I intend to increase this amount to 300,000 SPS and see how profitable I would be in the Champion 3 league.

For now I am just analyzing the potential of the deck I am renting and testing its profitability, but only next season will I really put into practice everything I have learned and start renting a large amount of SPS to make Splinterlands profitable for me.

In terms of strategy I believe I am doing well and recently I had a fun battle that I wanted to share with you.

This is the battle I'm talking about and despite being a battle with few monsters, it was still very fun and the strategy I used was what gave me the advantage in it and guaranteed me victory.

My strategy was a bit simple but very effective and I will explain it in detail so that you can understand how it works and also so that you can use it in your battles if you want.

First, let's start the summoner and in this battle I selected Lily Shieldpaw.

Lily Shieldpaw - This is a summoner from the dragon deck and its function will be to increase the life of all my monsters by +1 and grant them the Camouflage ability. In addition, Lily Shieldpaw also has the Triage ability.

• The Camouflage ability makes my monsters only targets when they are in the first position, except against monsters that have the Scattershot ability, since they attack randomly.

• The Triage ability makes Lily Shieldpaw heal my backline monster that suffered the most damage 1x per round, the healing is 1/3 of the monster's maximum life.

Now let's see which monsters I selected for the battle.

Baakjira - This is the monster that will defend me in the first position, it has no attack but is very useful as a defense since it has the Heal and Void abilities, in addition to having the Strengthen and Slow abilities.

• The Heal ability will make Baakjira heal for 1/3 of its maximum life 1x per round.

• The Void ability will make Baakjira take only half the damage against magical attacks.

• The Strengthen ability makes Baakjira increase the life of all my monsters by +1 while he is in battle.

• The Slow ability makes Baakjira decrease the speed of my opponent's monsters by -1.

Chaos Dragon - This is my monster that is in second place and it will be the one that will cause the most damage in this battle and also the one that will be the most useful since it has the Scattershot and Blast abilities, in addition to having the Flying and Blind abilities.

• The Scattershot ability makes Chaos Dragon attack randomly.

• The Blast ability makes Chaos Dragon cause additional damage to monsters adjacent to the monster it attacked.

• The Flying ability makes Chaos Dragon have a 25% greater chance of dodging melee and ranged attacks from monsters that do not have the Flying ability.

• The Blind ability makes Chaos Dragon increase the chances of my opponent's monsters missing their attack by +15% while he is in battle.

Night Reaper - This is my monster that is in third position and it will be the second monster that will cause the most damage in this battle, its function is to target monsters with the Flying ability of my opponent.

Angelic Mandarin - This is my last monster and it will serve as support since it has the Triage ability like Lily Shieldpaw, in addition to having the Silence ability.

• The Silence ability causes Angelic Mandarin to decrease the magic attack of all my opponent's monsters by -1 while he is in battle.

This battle uses the Earthquake rule, so a good choice is to select monsters that have the Flying ability, such as Chaos Dragon and Night Reaper. However, I don't like to limit myself in my choices, so I selected Angelic Mandarin and Lily Shieldpaw, since they will help keep my monsters that don't have the Flying ability alive in the battle.

This wasn't an easy battle, but I managed to emerge victorious because my Chaos Dragon was stronger and because of my healing abilities.

A good strategy changes the course of the battle, and every day I'm learning more about the game and developing new strategies for battles, and that's one of the reasons why I want to play Splinterlands. There are an incredible amount of combinations that I can use, and there will be even more when new cards, rules, and abilities are released.
