I've been meaning to share more of the hobby I've come to love on Hive since the COVID days, and that is nature photography. Don't get me wrong; I love my abstract and black and white photo attempts, but there is something special about the animals, birds, and wildlife in the area I live in. Of late, I've been spending a solid thirty minutes after work, everyday, wandering the local marsh in search of fun things to photograph. So without further adeau, here is my first share of the year of some things I was able to photograph this week with my Canon and Sigma lens.
First up is (what I think) a Myrtle Warbler. This bird was moving quick quickly along the treeline, but I managed a few snaps of it while it was resting.
Then of course the previously seen Red Breasted Blackbird above:
Then of course one of my favorites...the Downy Woodpecker:
No luck on Blue Herons yet, but there were plenty of American Coots and Mallards around this past week:
And it's not all about birds here...there is the occassional muskrat hanging out, too!
A week of photos, and much fun was had. I hope the images were enjoyed as much as they were while being taken. I hope to have a more consistent share as we move the seasons, this year, with my favorite local spot in town.
That little splash of red colour is really something
I know...I really have grown to appreciate them this spring - wonderful bird sounds too from them
Good old nature. You've got to love it.
Wonderful series! Birds are usually not easy to photograph, let's put it that way :)
Especially given they are the most active in the early hours of the day, right after the sunrise and not everybody likes to wake up so early, myself included, lol.
Also, sometimes it is hard to "predict" their behavior and select the sufficient shutter speed without compromising the quality.

Thanks, I've really been enjoying it...still highly amateur hour here, but feeling like I am sort of getting a bit of a hang of it.
Side question for you with your profile - are you fan of the Gnostics by chance?
What can I say... the more I use my cameras, the less I feel confident I know something about Photography :)))
My politically correct side answer would be... I can't say I am not fan. :)
