I understand you, and I agree that the commandments shouldn’t be picked and chosen. ❤️
Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 do include the Sabbath commandment. But as Christians, we also have to consider how Jesus and the apostles understood the law. The New Testament speaks about believers gathering on the first day (Acts 20:7) and also says not to judge one another regarding Sabbaths (Col. 2:16).
So for me, the question isn’t about ignoring God’s commandments, but understanding how Christ fulfilled the law and how the New Testament applies it. 🙏🏽
Amen....Jesus understood it perfectly, so He kept it.
Col. 2:16 is about feast days, never The Sabbath. Read the context of Col 2. And Acts 20:7 just said they met after the sun set on Sabbath. Never made the day holy.
Look at it this way....Sabbath was instituted along with marriage before sin entered the world. (Genesis 2) If Jesus fulfilled the laws written against us (Col. 2), that would mean marriage and sabbath were sinful. Which they aren't.
I hope you don't mind the little back and forth. I'm just always interested in how people view this topic. No disrespect intended.
