SERVANT LEADERSHIP
Being a leader is way beyond holding titles and giving out instructions as most persons will see it, being a leader is about servant leadership.
What do I mean by servant leadership? You are in authority but you still carry out the duties of a servant, by responding to statement, issues, most times when delegations are given out for persons to person and you see lapses, you can fill in for that person.
It does not mean you have to toil alone, that is why in every organization, be it the church community, school, or offices you work, every leader has a team that follows him or her to carry out each duty smoothly and effectively.
The purpose of this today is that most persons when given the post of a leader, carries it without understanding it's purpose.
When I was in university, I was the sisters Cordinator for 3 consecutive years in my church fellowship, did I do my job perfectly?, the answer is no, did I carry out my duty without being all carried away by the position?, the answer is yes.
What does the Bible say
about servant leadership?
In John 13:1-17 Jesus demonstrated servant leadership by washing the feet of his disciples, in Matthew 20:26-28 Jesus teaches that leadership is about serving others, not seeking power or status of any kind.
Some qualities of a true
servant leader
- Humility
- Selflessness
- Love
- Compassion
Leader's are called to serve others, not to seek status because at the end we will all give account on how we carried out our duties.
I pray that God will continue to enable us, strengthen us and give us what we need to run this race to the very end.
