You guys are "true blue" looking after that little girl.
"Fair crack of the whip" which is also "give a bloke a break mate" or "Fair shake of the sauce bottle" all meaning give someone a chance. "A squeaky wheel gets the oil" meaning he who complains the loudest gets the attention. Hope that broadens your Aussie vocabulary 😉

Definitely no 'Merican proverbs with the word "bloke" in them 😉. Surely there is a Aussie proverb involving kangaroos 🤔
Mey-Yii is a troubled girl, and even my wife has kind of lost her patience. I think she expected a bit of quick loyalty and respect from Mey-Yii, but as a step-parent, I know this does not come easily or quickly. In some abstract sense, I think Mey-Yii is making my wife live through many of the struggles I've face as a stepdad.
