How did you spend your holy week, wonderful community of hive?
I can still feel the heat of our journey. Me, my husband, our kids and some of my in-laws went to attend a family reunion. It's been a while since we attended the family gathering. Remember my father-in-law who was half a stroke last month. He was an important guest at the reunion. They plan to use two tricycles; one will be driven by my brother-in-law and one my husband. But my husband keeps on complaining that he doesn't want to use his father's tricycle.
So they borrowed a car from their aunt. But surprisingly the Aircon is broken. It couldn't make the car cold. We don't have any choice but to open the windows.
We arrived early at the place about 10:40 which I guess is a wrong decision. Hubby's brother carries their father. It had a wheelchair which was helpful for them. We're a total of 12 members but only me, Ria, Geoff, Jj, my husband, Mariel and Mae2 ate at the gathering. I don't know but they really don't want to eat in other places. I wasn't able to take pictures of the food, my relatives will sure looked at me.
We also brought Menudo and Pansit, that's the yearly tradition. Each family of clan needs to share a dish for the event. While the host will be the one to organize the utensils and other stuff.
Because my father-in-law didn't want to eat he got bored, even almost a hundred of his relatives went to him and showed respect. Pagmamano, or grabbing the hand of an old person and putting it on its head. After eating we just waited for the family picture and we went to the car to go home.
See the tarpaulin in the picture. My husband's great grandparents have six more siblings. I admire how they gave importance to the memory of their loved one. Because of this family gathering we are all united as one.
On the way home we needed to load the car some gasoline. But because we just lent it we took it to a trusted brand. The gasoline boy said that we needed to wait for 30 minutes to avail the gasoline needed. I couldn't stand the heat I think I was going to vomit. So I told my husband that me and Ria needed some fresh air. While my father-in-law is hardly sweating, because the Aircon is not working.
Finally we got home and honestly didn't enjoy the day. But it was a beautiful experience with my husbands family. 10:40 am and at 2:40 pm we already got home less the 30 minutes waiting at the gasoline station. We really wanted to stay for the gifts and game but we are worried of their fathers safety. If we arrive at the place at almost lunch time we probably be enjoying at some more time.
This is a very realistic post that shows the endevours and joys we have to spend time with family on a Holy day. I am sorry to read that you experienced that with the gasoline but nevertheless it was worth a visit as a family. Thank you for posting about this and I look forward to more of your blogs.
Thank you so much for the wonderful words my dear friend @loulo10111. It was one of the memorable experience I'll never forget
Yes it was a perfect day to spend reunions because it has long weekend holiday. And these days are for reconciliation and it's more better to be in the circle of the family. Happy reunion!
Thank you so much for dropping by into my post @krissymayol
Pagmamano is giving respect for the elders. When family gathering is there, elderly people will sit down coz many will do mano. Its good that you have time to spend with family even you gave different things to do in life. You have time to gather to show love and reconnect with your family. Enjoy the bonding moments. Wonderful day to all of you. 😍
Yes very well said my dear friend @katiekate86. Pag mamano is one of our Philippine traits na kinaugalian na po.
Yea it is. Keep more memories with your family.😍
