Almost a Decade of Friendship and a Mother's Quiet Happiness

Looking at these pictures makes me happy. My eldest daughter recently attended the birthday celebration of her classmate, together with her friends. Their friendship started when they were in Grade 7, and now my daughter is already in her third year of college. Time really flies so fast!

They have been friends for almost a decade. Even though they are not always together and no longer have the same classes, they still find ways to communicate and make time for each other. This birthday celebration became another chance for them to meet, laugh, take selfies, and create new memories together.

When I looked at their pictures, I could see how much they missed one another. Sometimes, a simple selfie can tell a story that words cannot fully explain. My daughter told me that she misses her senior high school days. College is stressful, and I understand that she sometimes misses the people and moments that made her school life more enjoyable.

As I watched her grow, I also remembered my own younger years. I was not able to continue my studies the way I wanted because I became a mother at an early age. There were things I wished I had experienced and opportunities I could not take because life took a different direction.

I also grew up lacking love and attention, and learning that I was adopted brought another kind of sadness into my life. Those experiences were not easy for me, but I did not want my children to carry the same sadness I once felt. I wanted them to feel loved, supported, and free to follow their dreams.

Now, seeing my eldest daughter continue her education makes me feel grateful. Her journey is not finished yet, but she is getting closer to graduation. The things I was not able to finish, she may soon accomplish in her own way. I know her success will come from her own efforts, patience, and determination, but as her mother, I am happy to see her moving forward.

I am also thankful that she has friends who have stayed in her life through different seasons. They may follow different paths, but their friendship remains.

These pictures are more than just selfies from a birthday celebration. They remind me of growing up, the importance of friendship, and the happiness of seeing our children build a future we once dreamed of.

I may not have finished my own journey the way I wanted, but seeing my daughter continue hers is already a blessing I will always be thankful for.
