A Difficult Day Made Lighter by a Friendo

One week after the new year's celebration me and my husband had a fight. My chest felt so tight, like I was carrying something I could not explain. Instead of staying at home and letting my thoughts eat me, I decided to run away. I needed someone to listen to me, even just for a while.

I messaged my friend and told her I needed to see her right away. When I arrived at her house, I told her everything that was bothering me. I did not hide my tears. She just listened, no judgement, no advice at first. Sometimes that is enough. While we were talking, I took a selfie with their cat. The cat was calm and warm, and somehow it helped me relax. Small things can really change your mood.

Their place is not perfect. Their area is affected by flood control issues. The canal near their house is still leaking, and you can see how it affects their surroundings. It is not safe, and honestly, their health is still at risk because of it. But what surprised me is how they stay happy and content despite everything.

Before I decided to go home, my friend invited me to play bingo with her. She was excited and already preparing the cards. I just smiled and watched her. I did not want to risk my money because I don’t really know how to play the game. I was afraid to lose, and maybe I was also afraid to add another worry to my day. It's not about betting in a small amount but the fear of losing and I don't want to disturb my friend for money. I was thankful that she let me in to her house. Feed and let me stay even just for a while.

So I just sat there, watching her enjoy the game. After some time, I felt lighter. I thanked her for listening and for the simple company. I went home and faced my situation. I talked to my husband, and we fixed things slowly. It was not perfect, but it was better than running away from the problem.

That day reminded me that sometimes we don’t need solutions. We just need a place to breathe, someone to listen, and the courage to go home and make things right again.
