The Title 'Golden Village' Gone Wrong In Bangladesh

Greetings, my Hive fellows!

When the title 'Golden Village' comes along, the beautiful view of a great village with great people and massive development is certified to make the village ideal for another village and to confer an exemplary status on that village. But we have the title 'golden village' of Bangladesh referring to a group of villages that is famous for smuggling, and most of the house owners of that area have a lot of arms, which is entirely illegal in Bangladesh as here citizens are not allowed to keep arms like in the USA. I had no relative to this region, so I was not able to to visit that area and know about these facts about that part of my district.

The most astonishing fact was that I didn't even know about such an irritating title for the area. My village is adjacent to that group of villages and is also very close to the India-Bangladesh border. When I passed secondary school, I found the area's title in some books and newspapers. In my university life, I heard a lot of mockery because my home is near the Golden Village area. This was a really insulting feeling when you hear some bad things regarding the area where you were born or you have passed a significant time of your life.

With the description of the status as the smuggling hub of my home district, Kushtia, the area is famous in the whole district as many people who want to enjoy cheap alcoholic drinks, fresh weeds, and other drugs come to the area from different parts of the country as alcohol is banned for public sale in Bangladesh as a Muslim-majority resident. And about arms, I thought it would be dangerous to visit the area.

Still, all my imagination went wrong when I visited the whole region by walking by the 'Mathavanga' river, which indicates the border divination between Bangladesh and India. Riverside beauty is the most common view all over Bangladesh when you go outside the major cities, as Bangladesh is a riverine country with thousands of people like spider nests. During my visit to this area, my friends and I spent most of our time in the riverside area and enjoyed the infinite beauty of the village area.

I heard that there was a connecting bridge on the river that connected Bangladesh and India, but that was destroyed in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. In my childhood, it was very easy to enter India by crossing the river, but currently, it is a life-taking initiative for anyone who wants to cross the border illegally. But it is an unwanted truth that there are many people from both countries who are performing smuggling with different arms , and also with things like drugs, and sometimes do human trafficking.

All I realized after visiting the 'Golden Village' was that all the circulated things were nothing but so many rumors among the people which have some age-old connections to this kind of criminal activity that the villagers do previously. So, my visit has given me sweet positive vibes against the false rumors that make people feel bad regarding such good initiatives.

It was a great day with my friends, who are now living in different locations. For many years, I have not seen one of them, but I wish to meet them as soon as possible when I visit Bangladesh again.

I hope you like my old memories of spending time with my university friends at the beautiful Bangladesh Air Force Museum. It was a nice experience that revived my memories! If you have any questions, let me know in the comments, and I will try my best to answer them.

Thanks a lot for your time and attention. I will catch up with you at the next one.

Wish you a good day!

Dear @tanzil2024 !
Hassan!
I felt that Bangladesh was a country of rivers, lakes and fields!
Since ancient times, Bangladesh has been famous for its abundance of food!

Yeah, during the agricultural revolution, it was heaven. Still, land production is very high without modern technologies and knowledge, as most of our farmers are not adequately educated or trained to harvest scientifically to gain higher yields. Thanks for your comment!
