Hey Hivers! How's it been? I hope you are all doing fantastic.
When I was in my last years of college, I became an officer in our department, United Architects of the Philippines-Student Auxiliary USPF Chapter. I was the Vice President for Program and Development. It was an honor for me to be part of it. It's a good thing to put on my resume too. Hehe. Anyway, in our last term and to be our last project as well, we decided to conduct an outreach program for the orphans. And we chose Christ for Asia.

We solicited money and asked for donations from our fellow students and some faculty members. The collected money will be for the food that we are going to feed the children. I was tasked with collecting the money, and when we had it, me and the other officer went for the groceries. We cooked the food at my place. Fellow officers and other schoolmates who volunteered just came here and helped. We had fun preparing food as well as excitement and anxiety about whether the food would be enough for the kids. The foods we gave were spaghetti, fried chicken, and spring rolls. I already cooked the spaghetti early in the morning, marinated the chicken, and made the spring rolls the night before. When my schoolmates came, they helped me cook the remaining foods. The rest of the chicken was fried and cooked at the orpahange so we could reach there before lunch time. We left my place at around 9 in the morning and traveled to Guadalupe, which is the location of the orphanage.
When we got there, I was overwhelmed by the kids. Most of them are teenagers already, and some are still kids ages 7 and up. The in charge told us that they just graduated the day before we went there, so the stage had decors still. He said they are just home schooled or they teach them inside the orphanage because they are bullied at the schools they enrolled in. I was sad to hear that.
We entered the hall and let the students be seated and settled down. We prayed before we started our spontaneous program. We conducted games, gave prizes to the winners, and gave tokens as well. One of my schoolmates donated sports equipment. All the children participated; they were happy; they enjoyed it. I took no pics during the giving of food. We all got busy. And after eating, we talked with some kids and took pictures of them. They were hungry to borrow mobile phones and ask for games. So I handed them my phone and let them play with it for a while.
After praying, we introduced ourselves to the kids.
We conducted a few games for the kids while waiting for lunch time. Gladly, they enjoyed it.
Clicking pics with some of them after lunch.
After doing aftercare, we took a group photo as we bid goodbye to the children afterwards. It was really a wonderful experience that your heart was just filled with joy and unexplainable happiness deep inside. I will surely be doing outreach again soon. Even with our little help, it’s a big happiness for them. Spread love and kindness in our own little ways, wholeheartedly.
Thank you for taking the time to read this far. It is greatly appreciated. God bless!
