My First Shabu-Shabu Experience at Shabu-Way in Ayala Center Cebu ☺️😋❤️

It was a chill night! Honestly, it was nice, romantic, and maybe a little meaningful. 😁 Yes, it was a dinner date, my first time trying shabu-shabu at Shabu-Way in Ayala Center Cebu. ☺️🤭

I won’t spill who my date was. It doesn’t matter anymore. 🤭 But, at that time, I really thought he might be the one. Well, I was wrong. We weren’t meant to be. 🤣

But let’s skip the heartbreak and talk about the food because Shabu-Way deserves the spotlight. ☺️

If you’re not familiar with shabu-shabu, it's a Japanese hot pot meal where you cook the ingredients yourself in a flavorful broth. The name sounds funny to us here in the Philippines, where shabu is known as an illegal drug. So when my date invited me to eat at Shabu-Way, I just laughed when he mentioned shabu. 😁 Not because I didn’t know what it was. But you know how in the Philippines, shabu has an entirely different meaning. 😂 But of course, I already had an idea what shabu-shabu is. It’s not embarrassing for me. In fact, I was curious and excited to try it. ☺️

When we arrived, the place was packed but we were lucky to get a table for two right away. The smell of the broth and all the simmering ingredients from other tables made me super hungry even before we ordered. 🤭😁

We ordered the seafood set, and when the tray arrived, it was full of fresh ingredients such as shrimp, squid rings, mussels, fish balls, tofu, crab sticks, pechay, sweet corn, mushrooms, and glass noodles. There were also dipping sauces on the side that added an extra kick. I was so excited, I totally forgot to take a photo of the main ingredients! 🤣🤣

My date took charge of cooking. The broth started to boil and the smell got even better. I didn’t expect shabu-shabu to be this interactive, but it was actually fun to wait while the soup simmered, watching the seafood cook slowly in front of me. ☺️❤️

The soup was so flavorful and comforting. It had that rich seafood taste, warm and satisfying, perfect for a hungry tummy and a slightly happy heart. 😂 I just kept sipping and sipping. ☺️😋

Even though we are not meant to be, the shabu-shabu experience is one I’ll remember. Fun, flavorful, and worth every slurp. ☺️❤️

Next time, I’ll definitely come back. That time, with the right people. 😉
