Manila Is A City of High-Rise Buildings

When I walked around Manila and every time I get the chance, I can’t help but notice how much the city has grown vertically. Truly, Manila is a place of high-rise buildings. Everywhere you look, there’s a tall building standing close to another, like they’re competing who could touch the sky first. Sometimes, I even wonder where the space for air and sunshine goes, because the buildings are really too close to each other. But still, you will be amazed at how Manila looks like with all these towers shaping the skyline. ☺️

Just take a look at this photo I took, the towers rising side by side, almost identical yet each having its own design. I stood in front of this view for a few minutes, admiring how modern the city has become. It’s a far cry from the simple small town vibes we grew up with, where the tallest structure is probably the church bell tower or a municipal hall.

I also crossed the overpass and captured another shot.

From here, you can see not only the high-rise condos and offices but also the mix of old and new structures. Manila has that unique combination, a touch of the past with its old establishments and a rush towards the future with all the new constructions. Life here moves so fast, with people walking quickly, cars passing endlessly, and the buildings standing like silent witnesses to everyone’s hustle.

And when I looked down from the overpass, this was the view.

The road is busy with vehicles, and beyond that, the skyline continues with more tall buildings stretching to the horizon. It feels like no matter where you turn, there will always be another tower waiting to greet you.

Living or working in Manila really shows you two sides, the beauty of development and the challenges of urban life. The buildings symbolize growth, progress, and opportunities. But at the same time, you can’t ignore the congestion, the traffic, and the limited open spaces. Despite that, there’s still something fascinating about this city. Manila, with all its high rises, carries countless stories of people chasing dreams, working hard, and building their lives within those tall walls.

For me, walking here and seeing these views is both overwhelming and inspiring. Overwhelming because of how dense and crowded it is, but inspiring because you see how people continue to strive, adapt, and survive in this concrete jungle.

So yes, Manila is truly a place of high-rise buildings. And every building has its own story just like the people who live and work inside them.
