Magic Shikika Recipe: Filipino Milkfish Sinigang ☺️😋❤️

Hello everyone!

Hope all are safe and well! ☺️❤️🙏

If there’s one dish that can instantly warm the heart of every Filipino, it’s sinigang. Known for its comforting sour broth, this dish is often enjoyed during rainy days or when you just crave for something that feels like home. Whether it’s pork, shrimp, or fish, sinigang is always present in many Filipino households because it’s simple to cook yet full of flavor. For me, one of my favorites is Sinigang na Bangus (Milkfish in Sour Soup).

Today, I want to share with you the dish I cooked for our lunch, Sinigang na Bangus (Milkfish in Sour Soup). This is one of the most comforting Filipino dishes I truly enjoy, especially on days when I want something warm, simple, and satisfying.

Early in the morning, I went to the market to look for something to prepare as our viand. While going around, I decided to buy fresh milkfish. What’s nice about buying at the market is that the vendors already do the cleaning for you, they remove the scales, gills, and guts, then slice the fish according to how many cuts you request. For me, I had the milkfish cut into 5 slices, which is just right for our meal.

When I arrived at my sister’s place, I immediately prepared everything I needed for my sinigang.

Ingredients:

✓ 1 milkfish, cut into 5 slices
✓ 1 bunch of Filipino pechay
✓ 1 onion, diced
✓ 1 tomato, diced
✓ 1 chili finger, chopped
✓ A little ginger, chopped
✓ A little Sinigang mix (tamarind soup base)
✓ A little salt
✓ 3 glasses of water

Procedures:

  1. Wash the milkfish slices properly and set aside.
  2. Prepare the vegetables by peeling and cutting the onion, ginger, chili finger, and tomato.

  3. In a pot, pour the 3 glasses of water and let it boil. Add the onion, ginger, chili finger, and tomato.

  4. While waiting for the water to boil, wash the pechay thoroughly.

  5. Once the water boils, add the Sinigang mix and a little salt. Stir well to combine the flavors.

  7. When the fish is cooked, add the pechay and let it simmer for just about a minute.

That’s it, our simple yet delicious Sinigang na Bangus is ready to enjoy! What I love about this dish is how easy it is to prepare, yet it tastes so comforting. The sourness of the broth, combined with the freshness of the fish and the vegetables, makes it such a hearty meal.

For lunch, we enjoyed it with rice, and since we cooked enough, it will also be our dinner later. ☺️ Simple dishes like this always remind me that cooking doesn’t need to be complicated to be delicious. ☺️

Have a Blessed Monday everyone! 😀😀😀💖💖💖

Thank You Lord for the blessings and love!

Be grateful in every little/simple things and you’ll find happiness you ever wanted! 😀😀😀

Everyday is worth to be grateful of!

Praying for the safety and wellness of all.

Heal Our Land Oh God!
