Counting Down to My Big Day: A Simple Birthday Throwback in Cebu / Simple Yet Meaningful Birthday ☺️❤️🎂🎉

One day to go before my big day! ☺️

There’s no grand celebration planned, just a quiet moment to reflect and be thankful. While waiting for that special day to come, I find myself looking back on the past years especially those birthdays that meant so much even without anything fancy. ☺️

Today is the fifth day of my countdown, and I want to share one of my past birthday celebrations when I was still living and working in Cebu. Even though it was my birthday, I still went to work. I didn’t mind! It actually felt nice to be around my co-workers, who eventually became close friends over time and become like family. ☺️❤️

That morning, while I was at the office, my co-worker arrived and to my surprise, she brought her daughter with her, who also happens to be my goddaughter. She walked toward me shyly, holding a small bouquet of flowers. Then, she hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. She said, Happy Birthday, Ninang, and sang me a birthday song in the sweetest little voice. It was such a sweet and touching moment. That simple gesture warmed my heart. ☺️❤️

It felt so pure and so innocent. That hug and kiss, coming from a little girl who didn’t even fully understand the meaning of birthdays yet, was one of the most touching gifts I’ve ever received. Her sincerity, her smile, and the simple joy in her eyes reminded me of how beautiful it is to be loved even in small and quiet ways. ☺️❤️

At lunch, we had a simple celebration at the staff house. Just a few dishes, a cake, and the people around me. But I was so happy. I got to blow out a candle and make a wish, something I always dreamed of doing as a child. Growing up, we didn’t have birthday cakes. I treasure every slice and every candle I get to blow. ☺️❤️

As we continue the celebration before going back to work, laughter filled the staff house as we shared stories and enjoyed the moment. It wasn’t fancy, but it was full of warmth and love. ☺️❤️

Looking back, that birthday taught me that the most meaningful gifts aren’t the ones wrapped in paper or ribbons. Sometimes, they come in the form of a child’s hug, a simple cake, or a quiet celebration with people who care. ☺️❤️

As I count down to my birthday this year, I hold that memory close to my heart. Life may not always be grand, but moments like these make it rich with love. ☺️❤️
