Visit to Bahay ni Jose Rizal, Calamba

Ever since we moved to Luzon and have been living here in San Pedro, Laguna, we have visited beautiful places in the province. One of those places is the Bahay ni Jose Rizal or the House of Jose Rizal, in Calamba. Since our children are homeschooled, we set time to visit historical sites for educational tours. For non-Filipino friends, Jose Rizal is our National Hero. Born on June 19, 1861 in Calamba. His novels and essays inspired the Philippine revolution against the Spaniards, who colonized the country for more than 300 years.

It was a Saturday when we came to visit. Timely for students from other schools' educational tour too. The place was jam-packed with students from different grade levels. We did not have much time to read the inscriptions on the displays, but good thing we were allowed to take photos. We took as many as we could. The house is a replica of Jose Rizal's birth home. Bahay ni Jose Rizal is officially known as Museo ni Jose Rizal, Calamba or Rizal Shrine. Inaugurated in 1950. It is located at Francisco Mercado Street, corner Jose P. Rizal Street, Brgy. 5, Poblacion, Calamba, Laguna. Adjacent to the St. John the Baptist Parish Church, where Rizal was baptized.

Below are a few of the photos we took during our visit.

Visiting the place was like being brought back to the time of Dr. Jose Rizal. We got to see and feel where he and his family lived. Knew what he had accomplished in his lifetime. He contributed much to this country, and I hope and pray that the present and future generations will value it. His patriotism has helped free the Philippines from colonial bondage, especially from the Spaniards.

Personally, I would love to visit again where there aren't many people. Hopefully soon. 😍

Thank you for reaching this far. If you are near Calamba, you might want to visit Bahay ni Jose Rizal.
