Home Gardening Again!

So life goes on as we have fully adjusted to our new place here in San Pedro, Laguna. I've mentioned in my previous blog that I would give updates on the things that happened after our long road trip here. But I did not have much motivation to do it. It took me another 2 months to write this one. LOL. So much has happened, so I guess I will tell you what I am currently working on while at home. Aside from being a teacher to my children since we are homeschooling, I have also started gardening two months ago.

I have done this in our home in Cebu. Now I am doing it again here in Laguna. I love to watch growing plants and take care of them. Most especially, vegetable plants.

Our rented place has an existing garden, though ornamental plants once grew here. I decided to clean it and make it ready for planting again. I did not have seeds to plant at first. So I made use of the kitchen scraps. Planted the tomato seeds from the ones I used in one of our meals. Look at these tomato seedlings!!

The good thing about tomatoes, they are very easy to grow. Aside from this, we also planted Kangkong from kitchen scraps!

I had our children help me plant it.

Kangkong.

After a few weeks, this is how it looks! It has grown new leaves! Ready to harvest and to be consumed!

We don't have only tomatoes and kangkong. We have also planted lemon grass, chilli peppers, basil, kalamansi, okra, eggplant, and mint. The peppers and eggplants don't have "fruits" yet, hopefully soon! The kalamasi had existing fruits when we bought it from one of the gardens here. We just harvested our first okra yesterday.

There's more coming! Soon to be harvested.

Look at these kalamansi! Aren't they lovely??

Kalamansi.

The tomatoes are also starting to produce fruit! Nature's miracle right before our very eyes!

I am always in awe of the fact that when we work with our hands and help things grow, we can harvest food from our own backyard. We will be waiting for the tomatoes, okra, kalamansi, and eggplants until harvest time.

Just a week ago, I harvested some malunggay and lemon grass for our Chicken tinola! Our new place has an existing malunggay tree just outside the fence.

As the saying goes, "You reap what you sow!" Harvest is sure if we make the effort to till the ground and nourish our crops. I am no expert in gardening, but I have learned things that work well in nurturing a vegetable garden. A week ago, I bought seeds and vermicast (organic fertilizer) online, and soon we will be planting them. We are looking for empty water bottles to be used as pots. This way, we will be helping Mother Earth recycle plastic bottles.

More updates in my upcoming blogs. Let's see the results on our next planting season. 😁 Are you into gardening too? I would love to see your gardens. Ours is just a small backyard container garden.

Thank you for reaching this far. See you in my next blog! I am off to my garden now!

Take care!

xoxo,

Met

Wow! You have a very bountiful garden dearest. I can't wait to see them bear much fruit.
Kumpleto na gulay for Tinola, manok nalang kulang!😍😍
I think if you are really a green thumb it doesn't matter where you live, you will always find time and space to plant because it is inherent in you.
Planting and growing our own food is truly beneficial especially with what's going on around the world now, prices of everything are soaring up so having your own vegetables is truly a blessing.πŸ₯°β™₯️

Having your own garden really has a lot of benefits no. Aside from you can enjoy it and get busy taking care of it, later on, may maaani ka talagang pwedeng isahog sa lulutuin πŸ’ƒβœ¨πŸ”₯. I can relate to this so much coz we have mini garden din hehe. Gamit na gamit alugbati at talbos ng kamote eh ehe. Anyways, enjoy taking care of it. More tanim pa to come.
